Bike won't start, ABS warning light blinking

After taking a longish (300 mi) ride on Sunday, my '04 R1150R wouldn't start this morning. After the initial diags, the general warning light stayed off, but the ABS light continued to blink (I believe at 1Hz).

My question is: if the battery was okay, should the engine have cranked over--or will an ABS failure prevent the engine from turning over? I'm hoping I just need a new battery.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

David

My ABS light blinks at 1Hz (give or take) until you roll a few feet, started or not. That's probably not the problem.

check the easy stuff first:
  • Is the kill switch is on?
Make sure it's in N (not normally required, but if the side stand switch is broken, it'll start in N)
Put the side-stand down and bring it back up, it might be stuck.
Can you hear the fuel pump kick on?

Thanks. All of the lights turn on and I can hear the servos and fuel pump. I just won't turn over. It's probably the battery. I just wanted to be sure that an ABS diag faillure won't prevent the engine from starting over.

 I too have had a problem with my 04. No ABS, yet the battery went out . Although after a charge up, it would start, it would not restart, even after a very long ride. New battery installed. Only after 2400 miles(You know it was out of warranty  )!
