Best Soft Luggage?

Post by Antoine31 »

I'm looking for a set of soft luggage for an upcoming trip. I'll be getting the hard cases when the budget allows, but until then I'd like soft bags, preferably ones that do not require a frame or other hardware. I'm looking at the Wolfman Summit bags but any thoughts or suggestions would help.

Can't speak to the WM Summit, but I love my WM Mini Beta. You might consider it, or the Beta Plus as you could continue to use it with the system cases.

These are high quality: Enduristan Monsoon

Without some type of support on the sides it will be pretty hard to make panniers work.

You may want to check out the Giant Loop back which is very high quality and lays over the seats and attaches to points like the passenger pegs.

I have a set of FAMSA soft bags, and they are the best quality softbags I have had. They ride great on the R with no frame and are expandable and roomy. FAMSA is the company that makes many OEM tank bags for bmw and others.

I use Kriega. They are IMNSHO, some of the best gear out there. They survived a 5K+ trip recently with NO, absolutely, NO complaints. I will not be purchasing hard cases for my R, as the Kriega are wonderful! http://www.kriega.us/

Thanks for the tip, DBL. I'm going with the FAMSA bags. Which ones do you have, high or low exhaust? I think the low exhaust ones should work fine.

Well, I've been trying to contact the FAMSA people, Bikerworld USA, but no answer to my phone calls and no response to my emails. May have to try something elsE.

+1 for Kreiga. They make fantastic, fully waterproof, bags. Won't ever replace lockable hard luggage for me, but for manny missions locking is not nessesary. For those times the Kriega gear is outstanding.

Just returned from an 860-mile jaunt through Colorado, traveling at a good clip. I did buy the WM Summit bags which worked amazingly well. Not waterproof, but I used dry bags inside purchased at Walmart. Now I'm looking for hard panniers but can't decide. OEM bags are nice but too big and expensive.
