That's probably Mark. He and Vann have a 'thing' about dropping their legs/feet while riding. Claim it helps stretch and prevent fatigue.

Drives me nuts to follow them.

Nice pic Brian. I've gotten away from my 'moving' photos, but need to take more pics more often.

Ahhh, the 3rd year for this ride and we finally got to ride the roads without rain. And the rain did show up Saturday night, so we were still able to call it the Hungry Mother Rain Ride.

I left Kevin around 4:00pm on the way home after a good ride home - no rain. We were able to avoid the rain by taking I-81 for a while and then made up for it on some REALLY good back roads.

I'll try to get a few of the good pics posted when I get internet access from home again.

It was good seeing all of you, and especially riding those awesome roads DRY!

You other guys feel free to put pictures in here, or tell a story from the trip (as appropriate, "what happens on a trip, stays on a trip").

I had a neat conversation with an older lady before going inside the restaurant Saturday evening. She used to ride with her husband and just beamed with excitement telling me how much she enjoyed it. Obviously someone who "gets" what we do and why we do it.

16(by my count) guys total for the weekend including Pete (Catapult). He swung by the campground Saturday and my group ran into him in Damascus. Good talking to you Pete, glad you came up.

Nocturnal from the ADVRider board joined for breakfast and riding on Saturday.

Here's a pic of the sticker on Boxer's left system case:

Even funnier if you've seen the movie.

If you had spent as many hours squatting behind the plate as I have, you'd be stretching your knees too! :?

While eating dinner Saturday night it started to rain. When we went to check our gear John pointed out this interesting sight (I think Chris took a pic as well):

The Legend of Hungry Mother

Post by MikeCam »

The Legend of Hungry Mother

(modified to fit reality)

Seems a motorcycle mama (mother) was staying locally in the environs of Molly's Knob and Hemlock Haven. She was hungry but had no provisions. So she decided to hike into town and seek sustenance from a local eatery.

But she had been warned by various other riders of the beaked beast that many local eating establishments offered slow to no service. Scoffing, she continued. Surely, a business whose sole purpose was to serve meals to strangers would accomodate her?

She stopped in the nearby town of Marion and selected the Tuscan Restaurant, Italian Food and Pizza. Life Long, Love Often, Eat Well (the motto). Ahhhh! Just the place.

But no. After nearly 15 minutes her order was not yet taken. And after nearly 75 minutes no food was placed before her. A mistake? An oversight? Simply an understaffed, poorly managed, weakly owned, and never to succeed place of business?

The woman died of starvation awaiting the "Eat Well" part of the motto to come true. Needless to say, she also failed to "Live Long". Was she "Loved Well"? We may never know.

Hence the name of the local park, in her honor: "Hungry Mother".

NOTE: I can personally vouch for the basis of the legend. I also left Marion feeling very much like a "hungry mutha".

Never again.

THE END

I really likeyour tent, A friend gave me a Eureka Timberline (2 man) as a push to get me going and it worked, I liked the little extra space for changing clothes and etc, I plan on doing a lot more camping and maybe I should look into the Pinnacle Pass, How is the setup? Den

The Eureka Timberline, a nice tent, (on the right), But your Pinnacle Pass is a nice looking unit

Den,

I don't know how the setup could be easier. It's very much like the Apex shown in these instructions except instead of mesh sleeves, the tent has clips that snap on to the poles.

Me likey.

Just picked up a new P Pass tent, Labor Day weekend we get to try it out.

It sure is a small pack for a 3 person tent. Much smaller than my 2 man Alps.

Well, I finally got around to posting some pictures. As usual, they are pretty mundane, certainly not up to some other board members but here goes.

Breakfast crowd on Saturday morning. Lots of bikes!

And a link to the rest of my meager shots. I take better pictures when I am alone with no one to visit with! :?

I had a great time, bad pictures and all! :)
