Future parts availability

Anyone care to hazard a guess as to how many more years parts & components will be available?

I just stumbled across a R1150R that needs a new owner and I might just be the guy, but I'd rather not get stuck hunting for critical
componentry for a 12 year old machine.

Re: Trying to come back!

Just looked at the R1200R specs.

I think it's too tall for me. :(

Re: Trying to come back!

Happy for your remarks and glad I stalled acting for awhile. Rob I think you're correct. Though I THOROUGHLY enjoyed my '04, that was when it was new. Started reading about the R1200R and it seems like "quite similar only better" plus they are newer. It's not the "Beaksterness" I...

Trying to come back!

Made the 2nd biggest mistake of my life a few years back and sold my '04 1150R for a ....Guzzi. Bought it with my...er... heart , yeah, that's it! But I've repented and am considering adding another to my stable. I've seen one in passing with 80K on the clock, just wondering what gets sloppy on them...

Re: Lower final drive ratio

Thanks gents. Fortunately (?) I don't have ABS so for the moment I'll assume my choices are broader. 3.36 sounds a bit low though. Wonderful folks at Beemerboneyard, though they did lose my "heads-up" request for a sub-frame. (Feel rather ghoulish putting in a request with them, somewhat h...

Lower final drive ratio

Most of you folks are long distance riders so I doubt this would be of interest BUT....I noticed the R1100 has a 11-34 or 3.09-1 ratio final drive.
Any chance that'd fit in the 1150R?
I'd really enjoy a lower ratio for the roads I ride on.

Cute! VERY cute!!

As I clean the rest of the brake fluid out of my left ear I can't help but chuckle at this Teutonic practical joke, this Germanic equivalent of the dribble glass. Did I miss it when they warned "watch out for the tiny geyser from the front brake fluid reservoir"? And my first stroke was ve...

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis

Still playing Devil's Advocate here;

Google "BMW motorcycle spline failure" you get 3,340 pages.

Google UFO's and you get 10,800,000 pages.

I want scientific proof.

Re: Clutch Spline Failure Analysis

I haven't read the entire thread but two aspects of this "problem" occur to me. Even without having a damaged spline to physically inspect it would seem they weren't heat treated correctly. Damage that severe from a clutch disc? Hmmm... However, all splines aren't ALL thusly afflicted, how...

Senior moment

Don't snicker. You'll get 'em soon enough.

Lit off my '04 the other day and while idling noticed the turn signal indicator lamps on the dash were glowing.

I can't remember if they did that before! :-k

Turn signals flash fine. (I've got a signal minder on there too.)

Is this normal?

Re: Tire Recommendations Welcomed

I don't ride for long distances anymore but do hoon about like a teenager.
The OE Bridgestones on my '04 have plenty of tread left, but they are dry as a bone!
I'm thinking a fresh set of Z6's are in the offing but I'm open to suggestions for suitable rubber for 150 mile weekend romps.
Anyone?

ANyway...it's like connecting welding leads to the starter! Crank & 1/2 and it's lit.

I just did an on-line search and found the best deal here: http://www.lmrbatteries.com/odyssey_PC680.html $79 + $9.33 UPS ground shipping for the most powerful, longest lasting battery. Whoa! Did THAT price go up since you posted this! Do you still like the Odyssey over say a Westco? Even t...

Thumbs up to Redline

Changed over to Redline HD in the tranny and FD and it's shifting "Suzuki smooth"!
Kudos to whomever did it first and posted it here. :D
