Re: Just got new shocks

Would love to get some new shocks but with ESA it is a little difficult without getting rid of it. Any suggestions mixing ESA with any manufacturer other than OEM????? Had the front OEM replaced at 30000 but still have rear. Trouble is I am frequently dialling in a change to ESA (lazy) and may miss ...

Re: Staying warm in winter without staying home.

Thanx for the replies. I guess I'm not that keen a upon yet more plugs if simple clever clothing can do the trick. I seek the Holy Grail . Clothing that isnt bulky ,can be mixed with leathers.(Perhaps the Atlantis Suit) and can deal with sitting on a bike long distances in wet, cold temps. I just tho...

Staying warm in winter without staying home.

Hi all. Wondering if anyone has any experience with thermal wear such as Hydroskins or equivalent. They use a 0.5 mm neoprene layer over fabric called Hydraprene. Used in rafting etc. Make a jacket and pants. Only gettable in US so I'd need to import so I want to try and get it right I am getting ol...

Re: R1200R Long Distance Impressions

Like others have done distances Adelaide to past Melbourne approx 1000km in a day from early am to early evening 14hrs in the saddle almost nonstop, refueling and drinking only. Have the lowest seat but with Airhawk. No screen. (Speed cops wont allow aeronautical testing above 100km..unless they're n...

I've just hit 36000 km and now oil is very stable. Yes a blast thru the hills drops it a bit ,but minimal.

Re: Oil Consumption: How much is too much?

Jess, like you I had similar concerns. " my bike's broken!!" However now that I have reached 30,000km... yes 30k! The oil consumption has fallen off significantly .So much so my routine knee to the ground AFTER my ride to check the level has been lacking of late. 30,000 km to get run in .....

Re: R or GS? Help please

Oh mate ...answer is simple...migrate to Oz. You're bound to have family here. The $Oz is about to reach parity with the $US. Then you have buy both GS for the outback fun and the R for tarmac. Actually this invite applies to anyone with an R. I'll have a word to the Minister for Immigration at the ...

Re: WHY DOES ABS MATTER ?

re ABS.... for those who never ride in the wet the advantage of ABS is questionable. Careful riding, professional level braking skills it adds up to almost equal ABS v non ABS. Add the wet road, leaf litter and ahh the differences IMO become serious. I rarely use a car and having experienced the ABS ...

I live in Australia. Any fuel tank less than 3-400 km capacity is IMHO a waste of time...Ducatis gen have small tanks. I mean how far is it to the next cafe in Italy?

Philbie, I ordered and received Cee Baileys bags. Excellent service to downunder. Bags are great and should do the job well. . Also for record Nippys to Oz is also v successful . Re: Takeing a 1000 mile alone

Riding alone..hmm. I'm about to embark across the Nullarbor Adelaide to Perth. 2700 km or the scenic route, 3200km. The big question is not why do I do it? The fact that it is tough is the answer to that..it is whether I invite others to come with me. Oh yes the other question is how do I get back i...

Re: This bike is costing me money !!!

This only works when you are being timed by a Police car.... Ok you are moving say 75 in 50 zone or so..you see the lights and think oh oh.... SPEED UP ,DONT PULLOVER ,increase speed for 30 seconds significantly. Before cop can react and hit the gas ,pullover. He will be so confused. When he asks wh...

Re: 150 MPH

Hmm double look at the 150mph (not kph). Havent quite made it there. The preparations for such a move in this state require extensive preparation. Check tyres, fuel, do an intial check of road for debris etc, check for radars, check for helicopters, empty body cavities of waste..do the U turn and aw...
