I've used Sat Nav to test speedos on the various cars I've driven and found that most of them read either exact or over. They must not read under as this is against legislation. My old R1100S had an electronic speedo, its a pity they didn't think about putting the same one on the R rather than that ...

Before ordering my bike I asked the dealer his opinion as it is a pretty expensive option. He replied that up until the previous day he would have suggested spending the money on something more useful. However since then he had driven his bike up out of his drive and onto the road as he had done a t...

Considering the cost of all the damaged caused by riding off with a disc lock in place (lower fork leg, caliper, disc and associated drop damage, etc) this would be money well spent. Here in the UK bike theft is a major problem and most sports bike owners don't want to lug a chain or U lock around s...

Pad thickness should't effect the pedal movement as the brake fluid will simply fill the caliper pot more as the pads wear down. As the pads wear you should notice a slight drop in the reservoir level but that is all. The adjustment is on the pedal actuating rod but if you are not confident out tack...

I've owned my blue 'R' since 2001 and have gained some useful tips and info from this site so I thought it was time I joined up! It's nice to have a port to call upon when things go wrong and to have such a variety of talent to pick from. I'm a 36 years old Englishman (NOT British) living in a "...

The clack clack sound is the starter motor solenoid shunting the gear forward onto the flywheel. What would normally happen is that the starter motor would then turn and crank the engine over. Prior to all this happening, the battery has to prime the fuel pump and power up the ECU that controls the ...

The Bonny is certainly beautiful (as all things British are!!) but due to the design and styling it will always be a compromise between function and form. The R1150R, however, is not trying to 'be' anything other than what it is. For long distance comfort, reliability and ability the R is the one to...

I got a BMW Atlantis 3 jacket. Expensive but it has survived a couple of British summers (equivelent to monsoon season) without a leak and looks good. It has all the CE approved armour in it and fits like a glove. Thats the problem 'cos it should fit like a jacket. Serious note, if you are buying a ...
