Re: happy (and envious in a good way)

I live in Topeka, KS and my father-in-law bought the only FJR1300 in town last year. The salesmen were ticked because they never got a chance to ride it before it was gone. He loves it. Smooth, predictable, lots of power where it counts. I was a newbie at the time ( and the bike had 12 miles on it) ...

Well, gentlemen...that settles it. I'm buying an '02-'03 ABS bike. I'm a couple months off because of finances but, when I'm ready, I'll be rattling cages. Black is the only color for me and there aren't that many out there. Plus, winter is the buyer's market. All of you have provided know...

'02-'03 Compard to '04 ABS Systems

I have heard a lot of talk about old ABS and new ABS. Some of the dividing lines were 90's but is there a substantive difference between the '02, '03, and '04 ABS Systems? Did the EVO set-up start in '02 or '03? I've seen both mentioned. This post should decided which bike I'm going to buy. Thanks i...

Well gentlemen. I believe you have made the decison for me. Thanks. I'm handy enough to do all my own wrenching (except machine work) annd if some "blueprinting" is all (and I use the term all very loosely) I need to avoid the conversion cost, etc. then I can live with Sea Foaming my bike ...

From what I've read, it seems to split between experienced riders and new riders. If you've ridden a lot and have "the skills," then ABS becomes a nuisance to your already learned and established riding habits. If you're a newbie, like myself, the ABS is very appealing and we have nothing ...

Thanks DJ. Any other owners have input? I'm buying an R1150R for sure but would rather be able to buy an '02-'03 for less money if the twin spark is not such a big deal..or if upgrading was reasonable. If these are not the case, I'll ante up for the '04..but no use spending more on an '04 when I cou...

The marine industry has used gel batteries for years. Albeit, not the cheapest marketplace either, you'll find a wider array of choices for chargers that will work equally as well. Might try http://www.surplusunlimited.com or http://www.westmarine.com . West will be higher but you can shop more choi...

$495 definitely falls into the reasonable range.

As for the last reply, why wouldn't you want twin spark? Surge elimination, better mileage are my two compelling reasons to do the mod. But I can't think of any reasons why not. Please enlighten me.

Switching pre '04 R1150R to Twin Spark

Anyone have any idea what would be required (if its possible) to convert a pre 2004 R1150R to twin spark? I know different heads, coils, leads, etc. Didn't know if the CPU would need to be swapped or just re-programmed, harnesses, etc. Maybe just too much trouble...so go buy a 2004; or maybe it can ...

Picture of the Week from 7/31 - 8/6

Can you post that picture of the black R1150R in NYC with the Statue of Liberty in the background in the Past POW section? I saved it to my computer at home last week but wanted to make it my background at work as well and its gone now. ( Not that this week's post with the Vulcan jet isn't cool as h...
