It's the right color though.

Re: Offroad/Dirt Riding
Off road riding is a great way to improve one's skill. Typically you don't ride a 1200cc bike off road and with it being a smaller bike, you have less weight and power to handle. You'll go and experience more radical places and conditions on a smaller bike and also learn how it reacts when things go...

Re: 2 Jacks BMW Gone
Bummer. Hate to hear of a BMW dealer closing. Makes one wonder if it had something to do with BMW USA's treatment of their dealer network or some other reason?

Re: Question for those that have wrecked an R1200R.
Jim, I bought my R12R from a guy who had a minor 10mph fender bender (he ran into the back of a car at a light after starting off from a dead stop). It looked very minor, thought I'd get away with maybe one upper fork leg at the worst..... Wrong! Both fork uppers and lowers were tweaked as was the ...

Re: Question for those that have wrecked an R1200R.
Don, you are absolutely right. I was following with plenty of space between myself and the rider in front of me, I just should have been in the left side of the lane. Being in the right side just didn't give me enough room to correct for the rough stuff I encountered. I visited the dealer yesterday ...

Re: Question for those that have wrecked an R1200R.
I recall somebody talking about swapping wheels at the dealer off the non-Classic R. Perhaps you can arrange to have the wheels swapped out under the table at the dealership before they turn the salvage bike over to the insurance company... Just a thought. I considered something like swapping wheel...

Re: Question for those that have wrecked an R1200R.
Thanks for the kind replies. I am happy overall about the injury outcome of this incident given that there was a stump to the right of the one I hit that would not have given at all and would surely have resulted in more serious injury. However, on the opposite side was nothing but grass, so, it cou...

Question for those that have wrecked an R1200R.
On April 1st I went for a ride with a group of folks through the back-roads of East Central Missouri and I crashed my bike. In 36 years of road riding, I've never had an accident. I'm not counting off-road racing/riding, I've crashed plenty doing that. But on the street, never. I was on a rough, pat...

Re: New here
Welcome! You have one of the best bikes on the planet. You'll get used to the indicators soon enough and I gotta say, I like 'em. As far as shifting goes, these transmissions like smooth & firm. Little snicks like you can get away with on a Japanese motorcycle, won't always get you the gear on a...

Welcome aboard Don! I visited Albany Oregon a couple of times on business in October 2011. Nice town you got there. The downtown area is rather nice with some nice eats and drinks. Didn't have much time to do either of those with my work schedule. :( Maybe another time. You'll like this bike. It doe...

Thanks for the update. I am going to need tires in another thousand or so and I was just setting out looking for this kind of input.

Re: Yuasa
I'd put it on the Tender overnight. As I recall, a fresh fill of acid brings a battery to about 75% charge. Or just put it in the bike and go for a decent ride. :D Just purchased a new Yuasa battery. After adding acid, instructions are to charge at 1.2amp for 5-10 hrs. I have a 6amp charger and a .7...

Sounds like you got a plan! You'll love this bike. I believe it is the easiest bike to ride available today and rare enough to be unique.
Welcome aboard!

Re: 2011 R1200R..Heated grips work intermittently???
Funny. My 2010's heated grips didn't work on the ride home tonight after working on the morning ride in. Temp this morning was 27 F and this evening it was 42 F. I'll have to try the restart. Maybe starting the bike with the grips ON versus OFF causes the CAN Bus to sense an overcurrent condition an...

Re: Beer Mugs
I like that H2. Many years ago, I approached very near God while riding a highly modified H2. Well, that is if you call 3-4 feet off the ground for about 40-50 feet leaving the bounds of earth. That thing turned a small hill into a jump at about 80+ mph. I was 18 at the time and I wouldn't g...

Beer Mugs
Hey all. I thought this might be interesting to some of you. Here are some beer mugs I have and I drink from on occasion. Turkey day being one of them. The first one is from Reg Pridmore's Superbike win in 1976. Butler & Smith was the importer of BMW's back in the day. http://farm7.staticflickr....

Re: Trusted the computer: RAN OUT OF GAS!!!!
Fill up before you get to 200 miles and you'll be fine. I've run mine out to 235, but it was getting real close. I figure that if I plan on filling up at 200 and can't, I've got a little reserve. Unless I've been running hard, then I need gas at 200 and not later.
