Has anyone noticed that the top bolts holding the touring screen on are really difficult to access. You have to get a hex wrench on them, but there is no room to fit the hex wrench in there because of the metal plate in the way. It is annoying. I had to cut a hex wrench down to a little nub to get o...

Battery Tender
If I just want to plug the Battery Tender into a normal outlet in my garage, which voltage do I need -- 6V or 12V?
Thanks

Accessory plug and battery chargers
Hi, I have a silly question, but just want to make sure about something. I have one of those accessory ports on my bike. Next to it is a little terminal post looking thing. How does a battery charger hook up to the bike? Do you put the positive cable into the accessory port and the negative on the p...

Battery charger
Hi, I'm thinking about getting a batter charger that plugs into the little electricity port on the side of the bike. This seems like something that one would really want to have given that it is kind of a pain to get at the battery. Am I missing anything, or do you pretty much need a charger? Especi...

Impressions of the new R
First, here it is in all its glory: http://math.uttyler.edu/cmann/new_r1150r.JPG I've taken it for a few rides, and my initial impression is "wow!" First, I've been riding honda cruisers (VT750 and VTX1300) since I started riding a couple of years ago, and I was convinced hondas were perfe...

Hey Geo, I live in Tyler, so it was a long haul for me to go get that bike. I was fortunate, though, because a friend of mine happened to be in Katy a few weeks ago visiting his daughter, so he went to Wild West and looked at both bikes for me. He said both looked to be in good shape, though he thou...

Possibly it was on the side stand at the dealership? I'm probably telling you something you know, but it reads high on the sidestand. I just got mine and was paranoid about my oil being low, so I searched this forum for oil checking techniques. The one that seems to work for me is to first warm it u...

Geo, Are looking at the bikes at Wild West Honda in Katy? The happen to have ads for an 04 with bags and windshield and an 02 without those items for $5995. If so, the 04 is gone. How do I know? I bought it! The 02 was still there, but he didn't have it out -- claimed it had a gas leak. I kind of th...

The previous post wasn't from me. But, I did bring it home yesterday. It is a really, really nice bike. I'm pretty jazzed. I did 150 mi in one stretch on the way home. It is really smooth. I'll post a link to some pictures later. I put it on the center stand last night. This morning I check the oil ...

Thanks for the friendly welcome. I'm in the Tyler area, Rootin55. The 02 is tempting at the price and milage. It has no extras, though, and is a couple years older. The 02 and 04 are both black and look virtually identical. The 04 also has a touring windshield I forgot to mention. The 02 is a little...

Looks like I'm joining the R1150R club
Hi, I made a deal on a black 2004 R1150R today. I'm giving $8000. Has 15,000 mi. It is the ABS model and has the hard bags, rear carrier, a tank bag, and a handlebar lift kit thing that pushes the handlebars back and up. Even has a termometer on it! Would like to get one of those Stealth back rests....
