Re: R1200R ... the reason why my next bike will be a KTM!

The R1200R is the only bike that keeps me loyal to BMW right now. If they didn't make this bike, I would probably be on a Speed Triple.

Re: GPS choices

The 2720/2730 comes with a detailed map.

I just noticed that "GPS for sale" website has the refurbished 2720 for 179.00

Re: GPS choices

You can get refurbished 2720/2730 (unbundled) units for about 250.00 or less.

My refurbished units are more reliable than my brand new ones.

Re: CYCLE'S WORLD'S 10 BEST BIKES- 2007

Let's face it: the R1200R is a sleeper and pretty much ignored by most people. It is better than any bike I've ever owned and this includes a Ducati 999 and R12GS. There really isn't catchy marketing for the R12R. The RT ('"across the country), GS ("around the world"), and K series (&...

Re: Corbin seat

I have the standard seat. Keep in mind that I ride a bicycle with a seat with no padding 150 miles a week so I'm probably not a very good judge of comfort. The firmness and shape just seem to work for me.

Re: Corbin seat

Corbin- poorly made product backed up by crappy customer service. I had to return my R11R seat twice for a poorly constructed seat pan and then the leather peeled off the base. Finally sent the stock seat to Sargent for their custom recovering and that worked great. I actually find the stock seat ve...

Re: Silencer angst

It is safe for the engine. The fuel injection easily compensates for the slightly more free flowing exhaust.

Re: What accessories are must haves on your 1200R?

Motolights for the front.

P3 Skene or Hyperlights for the back.

And a full tank of gas for the middle.

Re: FREE Farkles- A Company Doing Market Research on BMW Goodies

Heating oil is 4.60 a gallon, there is a war going on, and there are many other serious issues in the world right now. If Joe's method offended someone or the bandwith problems piss you off, read the newspaper and be thankful you can ride an expensive machine right now. Enjoy motorcycling, give 20 b...

Re: Silencer angst

With the baffles, slightly deeper than stock. Without the baffles, still quite tame but my low to mid throttle response seems better with the baffles in (at least that's my perception). Not dyno'd but dealer confirmed that the engine likes a little back pressure in the low to mid range. Also, there ...

That's the only bike that interests me besides the R12R.

The R12R is like a Speed Triple on Ritalin.

Graf-
Did you notice any loss in the low to mid range with the inserts removed?

Thanks for the tip.

Re: Ohlins: worth the price.

Dan Kyle of Kyle Racing. Still a good price- my local dealer wanted 1800.00

It was Oct 07. I think there was a price increase in January but there are occasional group buys on the ADV Riders website from Kyle Racing and Hard Racing.

Enjoy the shocks.

Sometimes Dan offers discounts for members of certain forums. I got mine from him through the Adv rider group buy.

Worth asking about.

Re: Help me sort out exhaust options, pls pls

I have the Akrapovic (photos posted on other threads here). Great quality and super looks. I run it with the inserts so it sounds a little deeper than stock but not much louder. Same model as the BMW "approved" Akra but with a sticker (and a savings of 450.00). No seat of the pants perform...

Ohlins: worth the price.

I finally got a chance to really spend a day on the bike with the newly installed Ohlins and I was not disappointed. Once the shocks were dialled in, the bike cornered like it was on rails and felt great on the bumpy stuff. The stockers weren't bad but the Ohlins really transformed the bike. I've us...

I had a Ducati 999. I don't miss it a bit.

Love the R12R.
