traded K1200R Sport for R1200R
Got tired of the zoom zoom thing and somewhat aggressive riding position of the k bike and liked what I've read here about the R so I am now enjoying my new very flickable and amazing silver R1200R. This bike has so much more character and did I mention flickability.....truely a fun machine. It hasn't any windshield but gives me the same wind feel as the K bike did, with it's quarter fairing...go figure. That big flat headlight must account for some protection? This is what a motorcycle is supposed to feel like.

Very good. I swapped my K1200R for an RT. I was never happy with the "all or nothing" fuel injection of the KR. Have fun...

I went from a K1200S to the R1200R. I thought I was alone in migrating in that direction, nice to see I have some company.
I agree, the R12R is an amazing bike and has all the power I need - I just had to learn to open the throttle wide again (something I rarely if ever did on the KS).

Interesting.. a buddy of mine just bought a leftover '07 K1200R Sport last weekend in Raleigh. He rides (and kept) a Duc ST4S.
Frankly, I think I'd probably end up a grease spot on the road with that much power at my right wrist.

Power is intoxicating and dangerous, It has always been my philisophy that riding a bike at 90% of it's capability is far more rewarding than one at 50% of theirs........

I had a Ducati 999. I don't miss it a bit.
Love the R12R.

Re: traded K1200R Sport for R1200R
I've had several sport bikes, had a beautiful anniversary Yamaha R1, and then my favorite bike was a 2002 RC51 (what a fun bike) but, by far the R1200R has to be my all time favorite bike, I can stay on this thing forever. Sometimes I miss the insane powerband of the sport bikes but I get over it every time I throw my leg over my R!
on another note I finally got to sit down and watch the Races from Barbers last weekend that I recorded on my DVR, I noticed there was a BMW in the formula extreme, was doing okay but ran out of gas on the last lap!

I traded my K12R for an R12R
Nothing, not even the SWEETEST deal would convince me to go back to the K and give up my R.
Enough said, i think!

06 K1200R to an 07 R1200R here too. Was thinking of selling the RR, but fighting myself internally on the issue.
It's really a great all-round bike.
Ahh the bikes I've ridden. So many bikes, so little time!

When I test rode the K1200S I thought it felt top heavy and sluggish at slow speeds, (and yes intoxicating power at WOT), but it didn't have the grin factor of the R1200R, so I fully understand your decision.hoghead32 wrote:Got tired of the zoom zoom thing and somewhat aggressive riding position of the k bike and liked what I've read here about the R so I am now enjoying my new very flickable and amazing silver R1200R.
