Re: Replacing tank on a R1200R 2008
Not without serious modification/fabrication. It'd be far cheaper and much easier just to have a custom shop make you a new tank to your taste - not that that's a particularly cost effective solution either. Maybe just buy a NineT Scrambler? Thank you for the reply, Karamazov! Anyone know of a good...

Re: Removing air box?
Just a short feedback on my air box modification. It has been five years since my modifications and I'm still totally satisfied with the result! :smt045 In the beginning of April I'll try to get the bike through the MOT with the modifications in place. The previous years I have always switched back ...

Replacing tank on a R1200R 2008
Hi I'm thinking about replacing the gas tank on my R1200R 2008. It's got a dent (please don't ask ) I really love the look of the new R Nine T scrambler! And I wonder if you think that the frame on that bike is similar enough to my bike to be able to fit that gas tank on my bike. If I'd be abl...

Re: handlebars
Ah, yes your hole-question; no there were no holes/slots for the wiring. I had to drill a hole for the tap in the gas control thingy. I'd be interested in more details on this. I'd like to use some tapered dual suport bars on my R1200R (Tag Metals T2 bars). Is the hole there to fix the throttle in ...

Re: Are there any mean, dirty, tough-guy looking r1200r's?
Note the sentence Can I do the same air box surgery on my R1200R? , that opens the thread up to people giving their opinions. Maybe the opinions weren't what he (?) wanted or agreed with but they were the opinions of the people that answered. If he's happy with the results of the time and effort he...

Re: Are there any mean, dirty, tough-guy looking r1200r's?
OK , I guess next I should ask why? Does it run better? Mark Hi Mark The short answer is; yes. The longer answer... I understand that there are quite a number of environmental friendly actions applied on modern bikes; to make them more quiet, consume less fuel and so on, and that is indeed very goo...

Re: handlebars
Hi Mark No, I haven't been asked before. The handlebar is tapered and is 80 cm wide and I believe that it is from Magura (X-line perhaps). The risers/wideners are from Yamaha, if I remember correctly. The hand protectors are from Acerbis (Multiplo). I don't know the width of the original handlebar, ...

No. And all the cables were long enough and the bar ends are not close to the tank either.celticus wrote:Are there any problems using this bar with the hand heaters?

Re: handlebars
Just wanted to share my experiences on the topic of handlebars. I've used the fatbar in this pic on a number of bikes, and I cannot think of my r1200r without it. It makes the bike so much more "handlier". It's easy to handle from the beginning, but with this bar it turns when I start to t...

Re: Removing air box?
Hi all It's been a while since I visited this forum... sorry for that... I was asked a question about my experiences of the removed/disconnected air box. Well, first of all, I didn't find a way to remove it without cutting it in pieces. It seems that I have to take most of the bike apart in o...

Re: Shocks
Better quality - you'll feel the difference: Ohlins - the "gold" standard (helps that they're gold colored.) Only one set of damping adjustments, linear wound springs are standard. Getting it setup right can be a bit of a challenge, but once you do - you'll be quite happy with it. Some in...

Re: Removing air box?
Howdy! Glad the bike is running so well... But, could you please let us know just what changes were made, and what the results were on the dyno? 8) Thanks! Brad Hi Brad As I wrote previously in this thread I have: removed the manifolds between the air intake and the air box added K&N clamp-on p...

Re: Removing air box?
Now I've been riding the bike for a couple of months and I must say that it is very smooth and this configuration suits me very well. Now that I know that it works fine, I want to remove the air box. But it looks like I have to remove the ASC/ABS(?) control thingy that sits in front of and above the...

TraX topbox experience
I think that the original BMW topbox is too small, so I wonder if any of you have experience of the SW-MOTECH TraX topbox? http://www.mo-tech.de/produkt/?produkt_id=1862 . Is it waterproof? Is is sturdy or "flimsy"? Is it better than the Hepco&Becker Xplorer aluminium case? http://www....
