Re: Corroded Bits!

I live on the north east coast over-looking the sea. My bike is kept covered but open to the elements at the moment and its starting to show :( The brake disks are showing rust around the inside edge near the bolts and the steering dampener has a small chip which rusts up between weekly washes - the...

F800R?

Hi all! Forgive my ignorance, but I was looking at BMW's UK website (http://www.bmw-motorrad.co.uk/uk/en/index.html) and noticed a rather nice R-marked bike on the front page and it looks like an F800R - is this a new model? Sorry if this is old news, but it looks rather nice :) I couldn't find ment...

Re: Catastrophic Battery Failure

I had the Antenna ring problem on the stop-off on the way down to London. The bike was recovered home and picked up on the next working day while i was given a loan... *shudder* car to carry on my trip to London. I asked for my bike to be recovered to Barrie Robson rather than my closest dealer (due...

My dealer sucks A$$

Last week I posted a message asking about GPS/SatNav on the cheap and had a number of replies (thanks Don!) that convinced me to go for the (much) more expensive BMW Navigator III option. When I phoned my dealer in Sunderland (UK) I was told by the receptionist that the person I needed to speak with...

SatNav on the cheap!

Hi all I’m sure this question has been raised before and answered many times over, but I’ve not been able to find the past-posts that have the answer… I’ve decided to go for a SatNav for my 2007 R1200R, but am a little put off by what’s available! Firstly the BMW option is a little too expensive, th...

Re: It's gone!

My friends and I used to go to all the local bike salesrooms to google-eye the latest new bikes; even after getting a 'bigger bike' I still loved to see what else I could get next.

Then I got my R1200R

Re: GPS on new iPhone ...Should I hold off buying a Zumo?

I read this

http://www.electronista.com/articles/08 ... ..gps.nav/

and got the feeling that the iPhone doesnt yet provide the true GPS solution that you might expect!

.. I'd still give my right arm for one... no, my left!

Re: New member with a new bike and helmet... but...

Lee, I've had my System V for almost a couple of years now with no major problems. I must say I don't have the odor problem that you do (are you sure yours is new and not a return?). Mine is quiet at speed (quieter than my Schuberth Concept and MUCH quieter than my full face no-flip Arai Quantum f)...

Wow! Thanks lads! Didn't quite expect this kind of response! :) DJ : That helmet looks good on you! Seeing it only from the inside its easy to forget what a good looking 'skid-lid' it is! I did try moving my head around at speed and the noise level went from deafening to annoying! Sadly, my horribly...

New member with a new bike and helmet... but...

Hello all! I'm here thanks to Don Eilenberger showing me the light! I picked up my new crystal grey r1200r last week and just had it 600-mile-serviced today! :) I'm super happy with it and can't believe how $hit-of-a-shovel fast it is! My question is this... I purchased a new System 5 flip-top lid f...

Re: Plastic Bag on Exhaust

Ooo! My very first post! :) My local BMW dealer has a little old man who cleans and looks after all the shop floor bikes, so he was the first person I spoke to when I wanted advice - he told me that he uses "wheel acid" which he said you can get from local auto shops. He even went as far a...
