Anyone have a "monster" Cee Bailey windshield?
I'm a wuss. Let that be known. I like my rides quiet and not so windy. I envy all those Electra Glide riders I see riding along wearing a forward facing baseball cap - not that I would ever do that! My R1100R came (used) with a 22 inch Cee Bailey windshield which worked well but it was too short for...

Part number for windshield brackeets?
Does anyone know the part number for the OEM windshield brackets on a 1996 R1100R? TIA.

Glad you survived unscathed! What came loose - the 4 bolts holding the wheel on?

Re: Hand guard suggestions?
So I call Bobs up and explain my concern that they recommended the wrong handguard. The gal on the phone remembers my order (she took it) and tells me that in fact, they were sending me the ones recommended in this thread. Turns out they did get something wrong, but they fixed it right away. Nice wo...

Re: Hand guard suggestions?
Try these, I got mine from Mortons BMW in VA for about $35 last year. Easy install they seem to work ok. I can email pics of them on my 01 R when I get home if you are intersested. http://store.bobsbmw.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=2734 Tracy Those look perfect. Oddly enough, before ...

Hand guard suggestions?
I want to give myself some extra hand protection on my 96 R1100R from the cold for an upcoming tour which will start in now chilly Wisconsin. I've heard the GS hand guards will fit, but that the throttlemeister (which I have) bar ends can be an issue. Any suggestions? Aftermarket vs OEM? In addition...

Re: Tried R1100r, but didn't like
I think BMWs aren't for everyone. That said, they are for me. Fwiw - my right hand never goes numb at any speed or RPM and my bike can only be described as smooth and rock steady - especially at highway speeds. Gotta wonder if your bud's bike isn't having some issues.

Re: My touring setup
I didn't expect this. Nice. - http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/8356/bikepics1439582800nx7.jpg When searching Givi racks this is what I saw. I wasn't thrilled with it. For a lot of money it looks like a JC Whitney rack too me. - http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/1611/rack2pi7.jpg I'm also considerin...

Re: 2008 FALL BASH MOVED TO EUREKA SPRINGS, ARKANSAS- Join us!!
If the gas problem has gotten better by next week, I'll go ahead and come to Arkansas and take my chances on a room (in case Dave gives my space to someone else because I'm so wishy-washy)(which would be okay). I know some people have sourced out racing gas. It's pricey of course, but sometimes ava...

Re: My touring setup
Right now, watching our Falcons taking on your Packers. . Curt Ugh. Don't remind me! Gotta give Rodgers credit for working through the hurts but that game was lost in the 1st half and by more than the 3 points might indicate. I like that Givi setup. I'm sure I'll go that direction, but pics would b...

Curt - do you have any pics of the rack w/o the box? Also, any comments on the Givi rack? Seems to be the only game in town for us.

Re: ABS low voltage sensitive
Over on the IBMWR site there's some help posted specifically for this chronic ABS problem ....... http://www.ibmwr.org/r-tech/oilheads/ABS-II_low_voltage_modification/index.shtml Chronic indeed. It was the 1st "BMWism" (sure they aren't made in Italy?) that I experienced with my new to me...

Re: My touring setup
Thanks Curt! Your shield is an inch taller than mine which is at "22". One extra inch won't help me so I might just "garage" fix mine. I'm 6-5 and even with the screen adjusted 2 inches higher, i's still about an inch low. I might play with angling it forward a bit and I'll fab u...

Re: My touring setup
I'm working on extending my range on my 96. So far I have installed the peg lowering kit. The bike came with a Cee bailey screen, but I don't know if it's the same as yours. How tall is yours from headlight to top? I'm tall and the screen I have is too low for me. I made some adaptors and moved the ...

Re: 2008 FALL BASH MOVED TO EUREKA SPRINGS, ARKANSAS- Join us!!
Eureka Springs is a perfect place for any motoring gathering. I've attended BMW 2002 (car model not year) rallys and Porsche rallys there. I also basically grew up in that general area. The town has a lot to offer except parking. Very very hilly - some of the steepest streets I've ever been on. The ...

Re: Photos of my R1100R
Really impressive! Not to take away from the effort but, it's amazing what a few parts will do. You really chose well. The telelever, oil cooler, center stand delete, and exhaust really trim the bikes lines. The bike is transformed. I like the wheels too. Thanks for the inspiration!
