Have you thought of trying the K1200R Sport?
Half fairing, bars like normal K1200R and no racing crouch.

duke, no I hadn't considered the K1200R sport. TBH I don't kmow much about it but will do some research. What attracted me to the S, apart from the obvious performance increase over the R1150R, was the smoothness of the engine and the better weather protection for longer-dstance rides. I find that 3 hours on the R at reasonable speed is quite gruelling, even more so with the system cases on board. A 3 hour ride on the S left me with aching wrists but without feeling that I had been fighting the bike.

On the down side, the front brake on the S was very grabby and there was so much 'throttle lag' on the second bike I borrowed that, until I adapted to it, I kept thinking I had selected neutral.

Heli Bars on the K12S may take care of your wrist issues. My Rockster with the BMW Touring Shield gives me way more wind protection than my K12S. I installed the Zero Gravity Touring Shield on the K12S which helps a lot more than the stock screen, but again does not provide the wind protection that the Rockster has with the BMW Touring Screen. The K12S rides so much better on the slab than the RR. Yes, the smoothness of the K12S is incredible.

orbea54 - interesting to hear your experience about wind-protection. How tall are you? I'm 5' 9" and found that the KS was a very comfortable ride compared with the RR with speedster screen.

I still love the RR as it has 'character' although getting back on it after 3 hours with the KS it did feel a little agricultural.
