Sport vs BMW touring screens - experiences plz

I have the BMW sport screen which I love.

However, I am considering the BMW touring screen for longer trips. All other screens are too large and so have already been discounted.

Does anyone here have experience of both the sport and the touring screens from BMW?

There's a couple of threads on the screens, but I think the general opinion (mine included) is that the BMW touring screen is not worth the $$$. I only used mine once.

The problem from my perspective is that all the screens I've seen are too vertical. This appears to be necessary since the instrument cluster is quite far forward. I have been riding an 1150GS for the last 5 years and before that an R1100RS both of which had short winshields which were much more horizontal than the RR shields. I liked this set up because it put my helmet completely in the clean air and eliminated any buffeting. That plus it had the added advantage of getting me a lot of air which is a good thing here in the hot southland but may not be so desireable in the great white north

Does anyone here have experience of both the sport and the touring screens from BMW?

I've used each for 2500 Km in all sorts of conditions (100Kph wind, torrential rain etc.) and prefer the sport screen. It is much quieter and results in a bit less pressure on my wrists at highway speeds, therefore is more comfortable for me.

Bought mine, used it once. Sold it. Beat the heck out of me on the highway with buffetting.

2 cents as follows.... Sport is nice; I may put this back on when I start doing day trips in the spring and summer. I currently have attached the Cee Bailey 20 and like it a lot... There is more noise than the sport; probably because my height of 6ft puts the air right across the top of my Suomy. Where the 20in Cee Bailey really shines for me is in the area of protection. It actually improves air flow into my helmet while keeping my visor clean as well as keeping air from battering my torso. As the mercury goes down I usually do most of my riding durring my commute; and for this purpose the 20 in screen and High-Viz Helmet and Jacket, and the awsome characteristics of the R12R, all this allows me to focus more than ever on the road and others on the road with me.

I have the "tall" screen (which seems pretty short to me, after my Harley cruiser screen). It is hard for me to tell where the wind hits, but I am 6 ft. tall and don't feel any buffetting or other untoward effects. It was definitely worth the money to me.

You have the tall BMW screen ? And you like it? I have never tried one so can't say for myself but most folks don't like it. Good for you I'm glad you got one you like.

Recently got a Cee Bailey and really like it. It's the 22" model and keeps most of the blast of me. Fits the same mounts as the BMW screens so it's quick and easy to swap.

Is there anyplace to order only the bracket for the BMW tall windscreen and not the bracket and windscreen together? I'd like to then get the aftermarket 20" windscreen for tours.

They actually make four- two are variations of the 21.5" version. From the Cee Bailey web site:

Our extended height windshield will fit on the BMW touring tall shield bracket (# 71-60-7-699-573). Our touring windshield is available in 3 sizes, a 16” high, an 18” high, and a 20” tall touring model.

Where on their website is the 22"? I can't find it..

Ah - found it - under the R1150R shields.. are you talking about a R1200R shield (this forum) or an R1150R shield? Just looked at the photo on your website - it appears to be an 1150..
