Hell Scotty, don't make changes to your plan! I am not asking for any changes!
Just was not clear about location. There is no requirement, as far as I remember, for Wellsboro, Elmira, Lackawanna, or anywhere else to be particularly close.
Benton, PA. We can ride over to watch the road melt at Centralia. Up to Eagle's Mere for lunch.
Stick with what you got, boyo! It'll be a hoot.
(I'll ask Mark about the regular coffee.)
Found it! Near the park at Rickett's Glen. Perfect location. Great job. You da man!

I know...I guess it's that I'd love to be further north towards wellsboro. the rates aren't much more at all and we're smack-dab right next to the grand canyon.
there's also a few establshments to eat within walking distance. so, it's not a big deal for me to switch, in fact, it's easier with this place. Tom will let me reserve the rooms right now.
so, i'm really game to switch it if everyone's cool. i'll ask Jim and tell you the final decision.

Not even something I would think of checking. Scotty, you are doing a very thorough job here, I trust your judgement. Only thing I require is a room of my own, and enough fuel for the Rock. I'm cool with switching. But staying is fine by me too.scottybooj wrote:There was one place but the owner was blackballed by all of the neighboring Chambers of Commerce, for what I don't know, and nobody would recommend his place.

Are you planning on coming to Arkansas in October?scottybooj wrote:gypsy, you making it up this time 'round?
I don't know, Scotty. I have a lot going on in my life right now and it would be hard for me to plan that far in advance. But, I'll tell you this............ I don't want to share a bathroom with you guys if I do make it!!!

I wonder about making actual reservations so far in advance. One nice thing about the Arkansas Bash was that we made our own reservations, with our own credit card numbers, and had a 48-hour-before cancellation window. If there's some huge storm bearing down on Pennsylvania three days before the meet, it would be nice to be able to cancel, without all the paperwork involved in getting people their refunds.

NoRRmad,
This place allows for a 7 day cancellation window for biker groups. I suppose if everyone called up separately and didn't mention they were on bikes, you might get that 24 hr. window.
This region books up FAST. It's prime for those who like scenic overlooks and especially sweet for fisherman. The fact that it's may with swift moving rivers makes for great angling. There are a few tourneys that are held out there in may and all of the rooms get taken.
Do whatever makes you feel comfy. You can always book separately, maybe somewhere else, and cancel if you need to.

Alright, after careful deliberation and wise input from Sir Jim (aka STdocLizard) we are REMAINING at the original location.
For those who have claimed annex 1 individually, like Vann and beemeridian, do you have a roommate? If not, i'll pair people up if that's ok.
Also, some people who requested their own private room are SOL as they are GONE. You will have received a PM from me asking you to pick another room choice.
As I write this, there's room for two people in annex 1, none in 2, and the hotel has room. Remember, you're sharing a bath, but so what! Many of us did that in W. Virginia. These rooms are also much less expensive...I might take one for myself!
This is great...in a few days I'll be sending everyone room assignments. This way we can firm it up with Rose at the hotel.
Jim has further described this place to me. It has good food, a BAR, and seems to be a local gathering spot so it should be fun. It's still in a remote enough area, though. Not trafficky like Wellsboro.
Jim will also, in the future, be posting GPS coordinates for those who need it. We'll also help those who want a more fun, rural ride in, with mapping that out.
Stay tuned!

I'm there Thursday, Friday and Saturday nites as Jim described. STDocLizard1 is known to many of the northeast OilHead riders as our well fed occasional group ride leader Jim with the gray haired pony tail. Remember those group ride start points off of I-80, Exit 12 in Hope NJ? The rides to the all-U-can-eat buffet in Lancaster PA? Jim & wife Patty are both riding customers, friends for over 10 years and frequent riding buddies when I lived in Pennsylvania and worked in my Shop in New Jersey 2 years ago. Besides his recently acquired GPS unit for his new Honda ST-1300, Jim has at least a TeraByte of organic living memory programmed by half a lifetime of aimless riding. Trust me, he KNOWS where the really good reasonably priced food and great riding roads are. Definitely does not fit the stereotype of what you think a Dentist should be like, but he's still drilling away.
Trucking my bike from Gainesville in North Georgia, I'll be connecting this Spring Bash with visits to my older Brother+Wife and my M/C shop, both in New Jersey. I just keyed in the hotel's address into my GPS. Wow! Nine seconds later the full trip directions were there. The newer units are fast! The only bad part is that it shows 777 miles (1250.5km) and 12 hours 22 minutes away.
The rider turnout looks like it's going to be good with most all the regulars digging in and traveling great distances like from Louisiana, Georgia, North Carolina, Florida and maybe even Texas to get there. Jim read the Farmer's Almanac and it said the weather's gonna be good.
