F800GS R1200GS Comparo, FYI

Post by munchmeister »

Thinking about a GS to replace the 1150R.

Based on available data from the announcements, I whipped up a bit of a comparo on these two GS offerings. Someone, somewhere had asked, why buy an F800GS when you can buy an R1200GS. Well, for one thing, there is over $4000 in difference, based only on the MSRP I've found on web sites (no accessories, charges, etc.). You may have different info, so accept apologies for any mistakes.

Link to the BMW MOA forum where I uploaded it in MS Word .doc format

Good useful stuff. Thanks.

Munch - possible typo at 5th gear ratio for the R1200GS?

Prolly would be useful. But I'm not a BMWMOA member. The link calls for my log-in before it comes up.

I'd seriously consider an F800GS for my next bike, so I'd love to see the comparison.
