Looking for a R1150RT in Sydney, but need advice!

I am a new member to this forum and am currently looking to buy a R1150RT in Sydney.

Does any one have any tips for buying?

There are a few ex police and ambulance bikes around, some with quite low mileage i.e 30,000km to 50,000km and some with higher such as 100,000km.

Should such bikes be avoided? Is a R1150RT with 100,oookm on the clock O.K? Provided service history is accounted for?

What should I look for and what should i be looking to spend? (I'd like to stick around the $12k mark :)

Any advice appreciated.

also just some lateral thinking applied you can buy a brand new Blackbird
CBR1100xx for $12990 at the moment which would be far better than a BMW with 100,000 kms on it for the same amount... IMHO
