Ok, I am no doubt going to get some ribbing here but I really enjoy my morning coffee. I am thinking about getting a portable 12 vlt espresso machine for my next trip. The Velox.

It has a power output of 120 watts so that will be an approximate 10 amp power draw and I can't find the amperage limit of our on board power socket.

Does anyone know what that is? Or where I can check it?

The accessory socket is fused for 15A. The clock and speedo lights are also on the same fuse. Neither pull very much current.

I have run my jacket liner from the accessory socket (pulls around 7A) without any problems. My only concern is that the wires to the socket are not very heavy. Might not be a bad idea to run something straight to the battery for your coffee maker.

(btw---I too love my morning coffee---go for it!!)

You should brew your first cup of coffee in a working day nearby a BMW dealer. At least they will help you if something will go wrong with the bikeÃ¢â‚¬Â¦having a cup of espresso in the morning is great but not from such a small battery.

I think that for camping such an espresso maker would be almost as cool as Camfarm's fancy gas-powered micro-burner rig, a lot cheaper than that, and possibly quite a bit more practical too! I like it! 120 Watts is about twice what the lighting on the bike needs. I am sure that the battery can take it for 10 minutes or so.

I think I will look into the possibility of installing a small microwave, micro frig and coffee maker in my Givi topbox for my "camping" excursions.

My buddy packs a Jetboil stove and a french press with him.

It aint espresso, but it is DAMN strong. Good too, if you use decent coffee.

Done in like 5 minutes too.

That looks like a good option too. May not be espresso but it has other capabilities that an espresso maker doesn't have, like making tea or soup. So long as if I wake up and it is pissing with rain, I can have my morning brew in my tent rather than suiting up and looking for a local coffee shop. At least then if it is still raining afterwards, I might be in a better mood!

+1 on the Jet Boil and French Press. I collect the little individual coffee packets from the hotels I stay in while traveling for work and use them. They work great and there are no coffee grounds to bother with. All you have to do is empty the French Press, boil more water, reload and you are ready for the next round of coffee.
