Battery Heads UP

Post by MotoDiva »

FYI: The cost of lead has recently increased by 40%. One way this will affect you is that the cost of batteries has already skyrocketed. Some have gone up as much as $60 to well over $200!! :-X My point here is take very good care of your battery. If you do not have or use a battery tender, run out to your nearest brick & mortar or online store and get one. THEN...........whenever you are not riding your bike for a week or more, hook the thing up. It'll take you a few seconds and will prevent the extreme highs and lows that will inevitably drain the very life out of your battery, thus making it last SOOOOOO much longer.

The cost of a tender is worth the price of admission. There are many good ones out there: Battery Tender; C-TEK (I have heard that they make the BMW branded tender); Yuasa, etc. just to name a few.

As a side, tires are soon to elevate in price as well. From what I hear, it ain't gonna be pretty. If you're about to need tires, get 'em now & save a few $$$.

Reporting from the inside; I will keep you'ts posted.................
...........too late we get smart, too soon we get old.

+1 to MotoDiva...

I bought my first Battery Tender about 15 years ago, been using them on a variety of machines. Last time I bought a motorcycle battery was ALSO about 15 years ago. Coincidence? Mebbe!

But seriously, my riding habits are pretty hard on batteries, pretty much a fair weather rider due to health constraints. So my bikes can set for months without any use. (And yes, I keep up on battery fluid levels etc.) Had to buy a new battery tender when I got my '04 Quicksilver R, but two battery tenders in 15 years is way cheaper than 5 or 6 batteries. Even I can do that math!
