Another newbie

Post by torquerulesok »

Hi guys! My name's Achim, I live in London and use my '03 R850R for commuting year-round (6,000m p.a.) as well as touring around Europe. Last year I toured the WW1 battle sites in France and Belgium with our oldest son on the bike. This is my second 850, kitted out with ABS, heated grips, Garmin Quest, panniers, and a Stebel Nautilus which will wake the dead and London bus drivers.

In June I'm off with some mates to go to Brittany, across the Pyrenees to Pamplona, through Catalunya, to Andorra, then along the Cote d'Azur to Cannes, across the Alps (Route Napoleon) and back home via Alsace, the Ardennes, Luxemburg and Belgium. 2,500 miles, 10 days: have SatNav, will travel! :D

I look forward to meeting some of you.

Ride safe,
Achim

Welcome, Achim.

That sounds like a wonderful trip. Did much of that in a car. Brittany is magical and if you've never been you're in for a treat. Be certain to taste the soupe de poisson. The Michelin white roads and yellow roads are what you're looking for.

have a safe trip

Achim

Welcome and let me begin to say that I'm envious of your travels, as when I was a bit younger I had envisioned taking three months off and traveling by motorbike the likes of Spain, France, Italy and Germany. As the years went by and I grew older that plan while still active, was modified to be made on a cage (automobile), fast forward to today and I don't see the trip coming to fruition unless there is a miracle....but we can always wish.

I was fortunate to have treveled to Spain on business and decided to take our annual vacation there with the Missus....so at least I had part of my plan come together.

Enjoy your trip and post some pics.....as we will enjoy them.
