I currently own a 04 Rockster with 9,500 miles. An opportunity came up, I can get an 06 K1200R with 8k on it. I'd need to trade my bike and pay an extra $2500. Is it worth it? Would you rather have a Rockster or a K1200R? I'm really on the fence here...and looking for some opinions from you guys. Fire away....
Thanks,
Johnny

I think the way to make a choice is to go for a long testride on the 1200.
Everytime i see a k1200r i start drooling a little.
But never took a ride on one. It should really have alot of power and Im still a newbie in the world of motorcycles. Can't really help out but it sure got the looks.

I think it really depends on what kind of riding and how much riding you do. I wouldn't want to cover serious ground on the K12R - for comfort's sake. My Rockster isn't exactly built for touring, but I love touring on it. If you value performance over style and comfort, the K12 will smoke the Rockster and the money is totally worth it. As hot as the K12R is, I'd stick to my Rockster because I'm happy doing 110 as my max (which I've done like twice). I don't need more power and I actually think the Rockster is better looking. Not as sporty but very stylish.

Try the K12.
I've been using my wides K12R for the past 2 or 3 weeks, and tbh, it's killing my back.
Im getting sciatica quite badly down my right leg - now I'm not sure if the bike caused this - but it certainly isn't helping me.
Conversely - my wife, who also has a bad back, find the K reduces her sciatic pain.
So get a test ride for as long as you feasibly can.

Personally I would take the K without a second thought, then proceed to laugh manically for a month or so.

For what it's worth,
I've only ridden a K12R for around 2hrs but...
Took it out on a wide selection of roads, through town, on the motorway etc. etc. I really liked it but didn't feel it had the same character as my Rockster. Proof was getting back to the dealership and feeling much more comfortable on the ride back home.
Didn't like the seat on the 12R either, took hard, too narrow and I would imagine troublesome over a long distance.
The K12R is a great bike, but for me personally I'd be very reluctant to trade in my Rock... Ultimately it's down to personal preference so as everyone has already pointed out, try before you buy

If you don't want it I'll take it.
I wish I could find a deal like that near where I live.
I would literally #2 my pants if I had that opportunity.
A K1200R goes for 25,000 Dollars in Canada, at least on the west coast. Cheapest I saw one used was about $19,000. I payed $12,500 for my Rockster used.

Gonna take a test ride on one this weekend. I can imagine liking a bike more than the Rockster, but thats what I thought about my Triumph till I test rode the Rockster
. I know I am comfy on the Rock for long distances, as I set it up just the way I like it. Seat, bars, screen etc. Just think the K wouldnt be as good for those long 7hr days.
