Post by lucagoa »

It was a slow fire, I mean the poor guy manage to get off the bike and save the bags. 8-[ 8-[

Poorly installed electrical accessories? Or a defective fuel tank quick disconnect dumping gas on a hot exhaust header?

Lots of scenerios.. not exclusive to the R1200R.

Where did the flames seem centered?

The cat on these bikes also get silly hot so if anything happens there(like parking in hogh dry grass or whatever) a fire is very easely started.

This happens quite often to riders who use non-BMW synthetic oil with insufficient zinc. ;)

Its a well known theory that lower levels of friction reducing ZDDP will cause extreme levels of mental friction. When combined with the high level of phlogiston contained in non-authorized motor oil, spontaneous combustion quickly occurs, igniting the imagination of those who are holders of of advanced lubrication superstitions, ah I mean theories.

Generally the rider catches fire, however sometimes the mental obsession to be correct, and propensity to insure the non-believers have been utterly vilified, can thru transference, cause the motorcycle itself to commit self-immolation.

Exacerbating the speculative lubricity phenomena are the especially relevant anecdotal experiences obtained third or fourth hand i.e. trillions of miles racked up on various internal combustion engines lubricated exclusively with Marvel Mystery or 3-in-One Oil.

One can, however, fireproof oneself thru the topical application of a American Petroleum Institute internal combustion engine oil as long as it is not rated SJ.

Bike Magazine said in their review that the R1200R was the hottest bike available for the hooligan rider. Must have been filming an advert.

You guys have it all wrong.... what really happened was that the rider was simply going too fast and the atmospheric friction from high-warp operation overheated things to the point the heat sink on the oil cooler cannot dissipate it. In other words, stay below warp 9.99 or the dilithium crystals overheat :-k

Did you happen to hear a "sonic boom" prior to the fire. These bikes get really hot when they reenter the atmosphere...plus jet fuel is highly flammable.

I dunno guys, it sounds like the owner must have removed his air control diverters on the forks to me. There is no telling what evil can be caused when one defies the Bavarians in that way. Very bad juju indeed.
