Replacment exhaust - any feedback on what's good or bad?
I'm looking to put a different exhaust on my trusty r1100r (non cat). Nothing wrong with the OE one but would like a little bit more of a throaty noise and to save some weight. Has anyone any views on what's good and what's not? I've seen a few Remus pipes out there and a Zach exhaust on this forum (very nice - and pricey).. Anyone got a Leo Vince?

I have a Leo on my 98 GS.
W/ ear plugs in I can just hear it going down the freeway at 70~80mph.
Pretty loud when on the gas.
The exhaust tip ends a bit short of the turn signal so my left signal is a browner orange than my right. I have since added an extension.
W/ fuel map relay removed..no popping and ~33mpg. Tailpipe pretty sooty.
w/ the 30 & 87 (I think but don't quote me) terminals jumped, ~37mpg. minimal popping on heavy decel.
I am going to try the stock 30, 87 and 87a jump next. I feel 40mpg to be a minimum acceptable mileage.
This is w/ O2 sensor in place.

Thanks for the reply. I contacted a Leo Vince distributor in the UK and it appears they only supply cat model replacement cans (they confirmed a non cat remus can be supplied). Going to try a few other places - Laser are now making a new range which look good.

I have had a Zach on mine but I found it too lound and too heavy (solid stainless steel). I replaced it earlier this year with a hungarian made Bodis exhaust (see photo attached). This thing is real lightweight, the sound is smooth (I really like it) and as per the dyno the gain is around 3 HP over the Zach exhaust.macinnr wrote:I'm looking to put a different exhaust on my trusty r1100r (non cat). Kind regards
