New Bike !

Post by Phillo »

Hi All - Well good news from South Africa, after the problem I had with the old bike (see Firing on One) I did not have the same confidence in it anymore after I got it back even though as I said the dealer came to the party and carried an extra 3 months warranty. So I mentioned to dealer that I was possibly in the market for a new one and they came up with a fantastic deal in my opinion anyway. A R1200R came in for it's first service with under a 1000k on the clock and the owner saw the new K1300 and was in love - so the deal is I give them my bike plus R:22000.00 and get a almost new one worth R:120400.00 :D

:( Hi Bob - looks like its was not meant to be - the other guys deal for the K1300 fell through on finance apparently so Ive decided to bite the bullet kick in 35000 instead of the 22000 and get a brand new one :D

Philo, After going back through "Firing On One" it is sort of surprising that you are dealing with your local BMW dealership ever again. I love my bike and have had no problems so far. But your experience must leave you doubtful. Good luck with the new bike.

Hi Mark - The guys at the dealership are fine - the dealer principle came to the party and extended the warranty for the three months that it was off the road which BMW Corporate point blank refused to do. BMW Corporate sucks but you cant blame the bike or the dealership for that. Also the deal for my bike and R:22000.00 is on again.

Hi Guys - Just a quick update from South Africa. All the deals mentioned before fell through so I decided to go the GS route which was probably what I should have done in the first place on the basis that I was totally impressed with the loan GS I had for a while when the "R" was out of action " see Firing on One ". The new bike in " Namibia Orange " was delivered today :D and the R1200R collected. Over the next week or two time constraints permitting I will fit the tappet cover guards, twin stebel horns, HID lighting, top box etc all of which I removed from the "R" beforehand and then look forward to many miles of more comfortable & pleasurable riding with my good lady on the back seat. To all of you out there on your "R's" thanks for the ride, enjoy, stay on 2 wheels & keep the rubber side down. Once I have done all the mod's I will post some photos.

Namibia Orange? Is that a color we can get in America?

Hi all, probably be my last post on the "R" site unless some subject which affects both bikes come's up. So as promised here's photos of the new bike after it's first wash, top box, tappet cover protectors & hooters fitted - still waiting for the H7 HID bulb.IMG]http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t199 ... 07/GS1.jpg IMG]http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t199 ... 07/GS2.jpg[/IMG] IMG]http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t199 ... 07/GS3.jpg[/IMG] Image Image
