For those of you considering a swap from the OEM seat to Rick Mayer custom seat, don't hesitate! Mine arrived on Friday . The workmanship was flawless and the comfort difference is outstanding! I had tboth the front and rear done.
No more sliding forward for me or my wife. She can now see over me instead of triing to look around me.. and no more squashed nuts!
It's hard to describe , but, it's difference between sitting "in" a seat that fits as opposed to trying to balance on a narrow seat that just doesn't fit. The passenger seat front also provides a feeling of having a short backrest for the driver as well as a small hump that keeps the passenger from sliding forward. Wrist strain is also greatly reduced if not eliminated.
A very welcome and necessary upgrade!

Congratulations! I'm enjoying mine, which became even more comfortable with use as it seemed to take on my butt shape a bit.PUP wrote:A very welcome and necessary upgrade!

How about some pics of those cool seats?
How much $.
I would never have believed that I would drop so much $ for new shocks, but I'd do it all over again; now you've got me thinking about seats.

Re: Rec'd. my Rick Mayer Seat
I love mine. Really, really comfortable, made a huge difference to my long distance riding comfort level. I got it for the 2006 season, it was $322 to rebuild the front and recover the rear, prices are higher now, but I think for a custom built seat it is still the least expensive option out there.
And I agree it gets better with age, every time I get on it now it feels like an old sofa.......but also like an old sofa, it doesn't look all that cool. Fortunately I usually can't see it cause I'm on it....

Mine's a little taller than the one on the Meyer site. It has no logo and there is less differential between the driver and passenger seats.Daryl.Stamp wrote:How about some pics of those cool seats?

I have a RM Seat on my "02 1150R as well - it really is the most comfortable seat ever. I do a 150 each way ride and have nothing but comfort all the way. It's really an investment every rider should make.
Rick Mayer seats take the seat out of the equation when it comes to how long you can ride in comfort.
