75th anniversary edition
Hiya, a mate of mine may be thinking about a 75th anniversary R1100R. What sets these bikes apart from the usual R1100R? Anything to watch out for?

Re: 75th anniversary edition
I've got a 75th SE. They came with a stack of goodies - ABS, HG, Panniers, Chome bits. They came with a certificate which I haven't got. They are all in black with white stripes on the tank and side panels. Allegedly the stripes are hand painted by an old woman with no teeth and a steady hand. Maybe she isn't so old.
They look great in the black with the silver frame - and I get lots of old fellas telling me how good it looks. No leggy 21 year old females though.
Important to remember that as they are SE's they are 10mph faster, handle better and and are worth £500 more. I'd like to think so anyway! Mechanically they are the same as a normal RR.
I beleive the US version had spoked/wire wheels and the euro version the 3 spoke cast jobbies.

Re: 75th anniversary edition
I just purchased a 1998 R1100R Anniversary Edition with 3,352 one owner miles. I have never had a bigger grin on my face. That is said coming from the following: Ducati 900SS/CR, Honda Blackbird, ST1100, ZX12R, R1200GS ADVENTURE, and a Hayabusa. I am finding the compact size to be an asset that allows me to take this bike when I would leave the others home. The fit, finish and quality on the '98 is superior to all the above bikes (including the '06 R1200GS ADVENTURE). Part of the equation is rider size and riding postion. I am 5'8" with a 32" inseam and long torso. The R1100R just plain fits better than any bike above. Combine the comfort with a butter smooth boxer powerplant and you've got one bike that will be ridden at any opportunity. I believe the styling to be timeless and with the optional hard bags will be putting many, many, many miles on this one. Good luck, don't think you could buy a better bike.
Re: 75th anniversary edition
Sounds like you got a blinder Goldust. Another 12,000 miles and it will be run in!
I totally agree with everything you said. It feels totally 'right' when you sit on and ride it (i'm 5'9 and 30" leg). Different to an r1150r and 1200r. I too have a feel good grin whenever I get on it. I also traded down from a VFR>1150gs and have no regrets.
I keep tring to find an excuse to buy a new bike but can find no reason to buy one. One thing to be careful of - if you fit a top box to the rack don't overfill it - my rack snapped at the end with a Givi box on it. If you do fit one I'd make it a smaller top box and not a big 50 litre Givi.
And it looks timeless in black...

Re: 75th anniversary edition
Hiya,
Mate of mine wants the 75th paint scheme. Cam anyone let me have the 3-digit paint code on the frame?
Most likely suspect now is 103 / 668
Thanks
