Wheelies on the R

Post by Daryl.Stamp »

It happened to me once by accident; felt pretty cool.
Overall, however, it doesn't seem like such a great idea.
What do ye experts say?

Gotta be careful when your cleaning it, they have been known to go off like that... :smt031

I'm too old for that stuff, my bones break too easily and the local constable frowns on that practice.

The one warning I'd give is that the one time I did a couple deliberately.....

The clutch/gearbox splines sheared fatally the very next day... :(

Did a big one in second gear when I hit a ridge in the middle of an intersection, its a heavy bike to land (versus a dirt bike). Scared the crap out of the car driver next to me  I assume you were reving the engine and then popping the clutch, not good on the transmission. And can cost you a $1000 ticket for the first time in some states [-X

I don't like doing it on the R as the boxer engine has that lateral movement when you give throttle and I don't like to land with the wheel tilted.

If you cut the throttle in mid air it lands straight =D>

I think riding wheelies is a great way to save the environment...since you're saving the tread on the front tire, that's less old tires in the yard that my wife doesn't nag me about.

Also appropriate safety procedure for returning home in the event that front wheel falls off; as seen on "Triumph Rocket III Modern Manufacturing" clip on Youtube (can't access Youtube from China; so you'll have to find link on your own).
