Something I do to counter "blowing off the bike feeling", is use my legs and stomach muscles to tilt my upper torso into the wind, e.g. lean into it, while keeping the back straight and relaxing the arms.

You have muscles in your stomach? I'm impressed.. I lost mine about a decade ago, have no idea where they went..

I guess my best solution would be to go with the tallest available (21") and then if I don't like it, start cutting it shorter and shorter. That's the paradox i learned on previous bikes - the taller shield does not necessarily provide the least buffeting.

The reason i was asking here, I though maybe someone has already gone through the selection process with the new VStreams. The difference between them is not only in hight, but width too. They are almost square: H:18.50" x W:18.75" and H:21.50" x W:21.00"

Update: I finally did get my Vstream tall 21" screen. Was returning home from the dealer at 70-80mph (I-95...) - and the buffeting and noise were really negligible!! Well, an adjustable screen and full fairing on my LT worked better, but we are taking different bikes and riding styles here.

So this windshield does work for me very well. I'm 5'10", inseam 32", standard seat.

I've got 3 windshields now, the BMW touring, 22" Parabellum and XL CalSci. I don't like any of them. The CalSci is especially horrible. I've been running around for about a month now with no windshield at all and like that the best. All of the windshields seem to concentrate the noise and buffeting right on my helmet. It's much better naked. I removed the bar backs and the stock bars are pretty good with no windshield.

So you are missing a VStream in your collection...

I agree - riding with no windshield at all is oftentimes very appealing and pleasant. But probably not a long trip with xxx-mile days and cold and rain and bugs...

So the question is, why is it that no aftermarket parts makers (or BMW itself) have come up with a detachable windscreen of the type some cruisers have - one click, and it's off and no protruding hardware...

Hello gents,

I'm back from a long job abroad....and still looking for windshield. As I'm committed to waste money I was thinking about putting a Vario spoiler on the Z-technick. I know I'm most probably going to throw money AND the Ztechnik out of the window but.......what can I do
Any idea/sggestion well accepted....

Well not edzackly one click, but I can remove the tall screen on my Parabellum Scout and put on a 10" shorty that's delivers lots of clean air to my chest and helmet area. This requires removing and replacing 4 machine screws and nuts. About 10 minutes. And the shorty shield is tinted so it looks trick. Or as trick as a retro-looking Scout fairing can look.

My collection of CeeBailey screens are a 5 minutes tops to swap. I've done it when leaving on a ride 'cause the weather changed.. 4 screws, off, 4 screws new one on. 5 minutes tops.

Has anyone tried the Sport Windshield by parabellum? To me it looks as good if not better than the other lexan sails used as windshields on The R1200R.

Rich I just ordered the Wudo screen as well - can you tell me a bit about the extra spoiler?, did you find that the screen itself was not enough? - a link to the spoiler would be great.

I will give a report on mine as soon as I get it.

Here we go. Hopefully there will be two pics of the Wuedo screen + spoiler as fitted on my bike. The combination worked well for me. As I said, the best of all the screens I've tried but as Don points out, that may not guarantee it would work for you. Although I notice we have similar dimensions

Parabellum makes two screens for the R12R: a replacement windshield to fit on the touring bracket, and a Sport Screen with its own hardware. I think the Sport Screen looks pretty good. I have one on order, I'll let you know in a week or two.

I've read every windshield post and have yet to see anything about the Wunderlich shields. Has anyone tried one other than the expensive quarter-fairing type?? I have tried the BMW Sport and Touring screens, the short CB, and am now about to try the Wunderlich Short. My thinking is that the BMW Sport is the best so far and the WL is only slightly larger and shaped about the same. I am 5'8' and 29" inseam, use a Bill Mayer short seat, and looking for more touring protection. I plan to ride from MI to OR for the July Rally....anyone else going?

I, too, am 5'8" with a 29" in seam.

I have a BMW Low Comfort Saddle.

I have gotten excellent results with the Cee Baily's 22" screen (although I'd love to try a 20"), mounted on the BMW Touring Bracket with its lower mount hiked up by 13/16" . There are several ways of obtaining this lift. DonC is selling a block that is a simple addition. I made a block out of aluminum stock from Lowes Motorcycle Parts Emporium, and a couple of guys bent up some aluminum bar stock. You could also use a piece of oak or other hardwood.

My windshield is no longer an issue.
