Lights and fuses and switches

Hi, folks,

Considering pulling the trigger and getting a set of running / aux lights, finally, along with the case guards.

I noticed the Denali LED lights from Twisted Throttle (http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/pr ... /5224/594/; review at http://www.webbikeworld.com/lights/denali-led-lights/).

For those of you with a Centech fuse panel ... where did you mount it? There doesn't seem (to me) to be that much space under the seat.... Pictures would be helpful and most welcome. Any issues with installation or operation?

Thoughts on the AP1 vs. the AP2? How about using the automatic relay modules, the AP-130 or 170 depending on the panel?

Any problems with aftermarket seats e.g. Corbin?

Re fuse block - I mounted the Eastern Beaver PC-8 fuse block in the back area with a custom power loom from Jim too. Plenty of room for it. I like having both full-time and triggered circuits such as the PC-8 and the AP-2 have. Here is the installation:

Right to the fender - 4 small screws/nuts. Piece'a cake.. Note in the photo - the power lead to it IS fused - the fuse is between the two frame tubes that support the top of the rear shock (toward top of the photo..) That makes for a very short, easily protected run to the + battery terminal. I found the fuse holder (which takes a 30A fuse) in a marine supply place. Wire size is #12 I believe, more then adequate for the current the fuse can carry (and less then I expect to draw from the fuse box.)

Don , That is a good looking fuse holder. I used a large fuse holder from a young person's thumper car stereo set up. It is larger than yours. I would like a smaller one ( never thought I'd hear myself saying that ). On occasion I make changes to the Centech's set up to make it more sanitary.

I looked at larger ones - but figured the chances of me drawing more then 30A from the fuse panel at one time are slim to none.. even my auxiliary lights are less then 10A. My heated seat is 3A, my heated gear around 6A or so.. Totalled it up and it was less then 20A, 30% fudge factor - 30A should work fine. Haven't had it blow yet.

I also have been known to disconnect and reroute wires to make things tidy - square off the corners so to speak. Obsessive compulsive disorder can display itself in lots of ways I guess.

I know you asked about the Centech but I went with the Blue Sea 5025 when I hooked up driving lights (Hella FF50s mounted on the crash bars), partly out of cheapness and partly because I wanted the fuses covered. It seems huge compared to the Centech and Eastern Beaver, but the nice thing is that once you get 10 or 12 wires hooked to it you don't have to worry about it going anyplace. The two relays for the driving lights (separate for high and low beams) are down along the right side panel (top of picture). The relay you can see is for the whole fuse panel.

Looked at the BlueSea (appeal is marine use stuff is usually pretty good around wetness..) - but the size was just a killer for me. If I had it to do over - I'd consider one of the other moto specific ones with a relay switched key-power circuit and the always-on circuit. Might be handy for a few things.. but so far the simple Centech (which I owned) has done fine for me.
