gearbox output shaft oil leak

My 2000 1100R is losing oil from the oilseal around the output shaft. I understand that these can be changed without having to disassemble the bike/gearbox - i.e. just by removing the shaft drive/swingarm box. Anyone out there got any experience of doing this? If so any tips?
