handlebar

Post by herman156 »

My bike is 03 year R1150R.
Cause I prefer sport riding style. I feel original handlebar is too high.
So I think to use Rockster handlebar to replace original one.
Does it fit ?

thanks,

I've asked the same question myself to several dealers and all have said they see no reason why they should not fit.

I'm thinking of doing the same....

Yes you can do that. I bought a Rockster, but liked the standard "R" handlebar better, so made it part of the deal in 04 when I bought my bike. My local dealer was OK in doing that, and it works great, so see no reason not to go the other way.

Hi guys,

I am making some adjustments to my R1150R and I want to lower my handlebars and I was looking into swapping them out with the Rockster edition handlebars however I don't want to spend 300 dollars. I found some straight handlebars with very similar dimensions. I was curious if I could use the universal handlebars instead of the BMW handlebars? The handlebars I was looking at are the Hagen Low Rise HAG 7, http://www.whaccessories.com/Handle%20D ... 20List.htm. Thanks for the help.

The problem with using bars not made for your BMW is the special adapter on each bar end isn't there. I have a custom Renthal aluminum bar that the builder machined BMW bar end adapters for, There might be other problems with a generic bar, some of the experts here can tell you no doubt. If you're handy with tools you might be able to make something up, however I would look online a bit. I bought a Wonderlich touring bar for less than $100 used, and I know they make other bars.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.
