New guy here. Today is day two of owning my new R1200R. I'm well on my way to the 600 mile break in.
I took a loop around Carmel Valley Road:

This is my favourite shade of colour in the new line up, looks so tough/mean. Great choice mateJedi5150 wrote:New guy here. Today is day two of owning my new R1200R. I'm well on my way to the 600 mile break in.I took a loop around Carmel Valley Road:

Thanks for the welcome!
I got really lucky with the color. There was only one R1200R in any of the local dealers that was not already sold. it was the exact color I wanted and had all the options I wanted.

Still did not get a chance to bring out my DSLR and do a nice photo shoot with my bike, but here is a little something i did with the iPhone:

Here's a couple of shots from a recent trip:

Entering Death Valley from the east.

Death Valley from Dante's View, 5700 ft elevation. Badwater is below.

Badwater, at 282 feet below sea level, the lowest elevation in the USA.

920 miles in 2 days. Many bugs killed on windscreen. I had some fun!

Nice!
Death Valley is a beautiful place.
Are the flowers still blooming?

Re: R1200R PHOT0 GALLERY
No, Joe, the wildflowers are toast. But the Creosote Bush (Larrea) is blooming, and the Cholla Cactus is looking good. I camped at Furnace Creek, where the temps were over 100° in the day and dropped to 82° by dawn. Yep, it's beautiful!

Re: R1200R PHOT0 GALLERY
Got a very early start yesterday and headed west for some great riding in my new locale:
- Skyline Drive: No traffic and no Rangers either! Went all the way down to Elkton about 50ish miles of wonderful views and a great road. Tried to keep speed below 50; generally succeeded.
- Up US-340 to Luray
- East on US-211: Now THAT is a seriously amazing road!!! The 3 miles west of Skyline are great, and the 4 miles east of Skyline are even better!
I took some GoPro video of Skyline and US-211 that I'll try and get posted later. As far as pics, I only have one picture with the bike in it: In front of the Hawksbill Diner on US-340 about 7 miles south of Luray. Great place, great people, and the food hit the spot.
