I tried to get the 2011 mirrors at my BMW shop, but their parts computer is showing the same round mickey ear mirrors as the older R1200R's. If I order them and they are round, I am stuck with them. I even showed the parts guys some photos of the 2011 bike. There is a link in this thread, but the mirrors for the "C" look to be chrome, not black. I prefer the BMW oval mirror to the Tuono some guys are using.

NYLife, do you have a part number for the mirrors in your photo? If I am understanding correctly, you have 2011 mirrors on a 2009 bike.

Before you buy the oval beemer mirrors, check out the Rizomas (PJs Parts is a good site with good people running it). I just installed them on my '07 and am so happy with them. They are worth the extra money, as most of the "buzziness" is gone.

you are correct, i don't have the part number from 2011, because i bought them from another forum member.

browsing BMW part fiche part number should be 51167685505(but the picture still shows oval)

On that note, NEVER trust the parts fiche renderings! You need to know your bike (year, etc.) and know what you need. It seems that the drawings only get updated when the actual fitment and/or assembly changes.

I replaced the standard mirrors on my 2005 GS with a set from a KTM. At that time, BMW and KTM mirrors used smooth 10MM shafts to attach the mirrors to collet style mounts. The KTM mirrors had shafts adjustable for both length and angle. As you can see in the photo, the shafts can be adjusted to be longer than standard BMW R1200R mirrors.

I don't know if the collet mounts are still available, but I think that the KTM mirrors could be threaded to fit directly into BMW's 10X1.5mm bar sockets.

I found that the stock R1200R mirrors would not allow me to see vehicles directly behind me, so I went with CRG bar ends. I made some small aluminum spools so I could mount them on the ends of my bar weights without permanent alterations to the weights. The mirrors are convex so I can get a panoramic view of what's behind me. I'd prefer slightly larger mirrors but these will do until I find some I like better:
