2009 R1200R seat too low

Anyone out there would like to trade me for a higher seat? I just purchased a 2009 R12 and the seat is way too low. I need the next higher seat or the next higher one. Contact me in Texas at 713-882-1052. I live in Friendswood Texas just south of Houston.

You may want to look into the "comfort seat" from the '11 model. I have the low version (won't help you) but it fits my '09 just fine. I know they have a high version of the seat.

I have the same problem with my knees bent too much and becoming sore after riding more than one hour. I already have the standard seat and the high seat would be a $600 or expense. I have also seen this device
http://www.suburban-machinery.com/R1200R1.htm which lowers the footpeg by about one inch, but it is also a $400 with labor. Bottom line, this is becoming serious money for just two inches. Let me know if you find a good solution.

I installed the Suburban Machinery peg lowering kit. It brought great relief to some aching old knees. The installation requires no specialized skills. It is an easy do it yourself project.

Hi Bruce, Does your 2010 2009 have the center stand? Were you able to preserve it with the Suburban lowering kit?

Center stand is not impacted by the lowering kit in any way.

On the 2010 factory lowered models, they added a steel ball to the side stand to make it easier to deploy with your boot. That had to go. First I tried to find someone to swap for an earlier short side stand with no ball, but there were no takers. With the side stand still mounted on the bike, it was literaly two minutes with a hack saw blade to remove the ball and cover the wound with some satin black Krylon.

By the way, I had been concerned about cornering clearance on the lowered chassis, so I rode around for a few weeks with some styrofoam mockups taped under the stock pegs to mimick the 1" drop. The styrofoam was unfased. I think I posted some detailed info about the whole project including the styro inserts and the installation - included pix as I recall.

For the past few weeks I've been riding my K75 (It's for sale if you know anyone who is interested) to circulate the fluids and charge up the battery. I used to think it was pretty comfy but now I can't believe how badly my knees are tucked compared to my R12.

I had a call tonight and I think I have a trade in Miami. I also was talking to my wife and she told me that a good idea would be to recover the seat on my white R12R with a white leather (Ostrich skin) and trim it in black. That would look great I think!! What do ya'll think? I might even get my wife to pay for it.
