If you do not find the bars? There are aeveral after-market heated grips out there.
I have Hot-Grip brand,[available at Riders Warehouse] on one of my Vulcans. Have had them 7-8 years now & they work fine. Two settings, low / high, and [are] very warm on high. Showing wear in the grip itself, but the heat element is fine. The cost is around $100+

Re: Wanted R1150R handlebars
I am actually looking for the handlebars.
I need ones drilled already for heated grips.

Re: Wanted R1150R handlebars
Greg,
Not sure why you would go with R1150**-type handlebar and heated grips. The F800** bikes use a different heated grip system, in which the grip wires do not run through the handlebar, and thus the handlebar ends do not require the special R1150-series (R1100 also) machined bar-end section for the wire run and attachment of end weights.
I've got both types of bikes in the garage right now, and can take pics of the differences if you need the info.

Ahhh, to tell you the truth I don't have the bike with me as it's in winter storage.
I just assumed since it had heated grips that the wires would run down the bars.
Thanks for letting me know.

I have a spare set. OEM bars for heated grips in perfect condition. I took them off when I installed my Wunderlich Touring Wellness Handlebars. Kind of hate to sell them for when I ultimately sell this bike. Regale me with a story of woe and I might be persuaded to let them go. PM me.

Tell us about the Wunderlich Touring Wellness Handlebars.
Are they better? more comfortable?...Thanks,

Re: Wanted R1150R handlebars
I found that with the stock bars I had to lean forward more than I liked. After a while (sometimes not that long) my hands would begin to ache. This was especially true with a nice, big windshield as there was no wind to prop me up. These bars have pretty much eliminated hand pain. They also put the mirrors in a far better position for rearward viewing. I've been extremely pleased with them. They are a bit wider and swept back a tad more making a slightly sharper angle between your arms and the bars so that initially they felt a bit weird. After I got used to it, though, they were fine. If there is anything that I don't like about them I'd have to say it is the chrome finish. I preferred the matte finish of the stock bars. Still, best $100 I've spent on my RR.ron prior wrote:

So, you use those without adding bar risers?
I have risers, and they're OK I guess. But I would prefer the more relaxed position, but with a-bit more clearance for my tankbag...[older Eclipse]

Re: Wanted R1150R handlebars
You can't use risers with the Wunderlich touring bars unless you lengthen the brake lines. I was just considering what I liked about these bars and I think it's that there's no pressure on my wrists anymore. My hands used to tingle and go to sleep. Much better now.
I don't get caught in the rain, I ride in it on purpose.

If they're not ridculous in price, I might have to try a set. I'll look on their site.

Coupe of questions R1150R handlebars
How do the Wunderlich compare to the R1150R bars as far as height?
Are they lower that the R1150R bars?
Did the R1150R ever come without heated grips or were heated grips standard?
Where are the heated grip wire holes on the R1150R handlebars?

Re: Wanted R1150R handlebars
Hi Greg,
whilst I cannot answer the question with the handlebars I can tell you that the heated grips have always been an optional at extra money. The cables for the heated grips are routed inside the handlebars hence there used to be a tubular hole in the handlebar in the middle between the clamps holding the handlebar.
If I am not mistaken Wunderlich always sold the handlebars made by a German company called LSL (http://www.lsl-motorradtechnik.de/php/i ... t.php?ID=9)

Re: Wanted R1150R handlebars
My F800ST has heated grips but the wires are on the outside of the bars.
Thanks for letting me know the R1150R heated grip bars had the wire hole in the center.
I guess it would be ideal for me to find a set of R1150R bars that came without heated grips.

Greg-
Looks like you've already posted on F800Riders about the handlebar option...

http://f800riders.org/forum/showthread. ... =handlebar
from what I've seen, there are few folks on that board who have solid technical info, while the majority blab nonsense.
For your handlebar project:
1. What's your goal? Wider grip locations, more/less pull-back, more/less rise?
2. What's so special about the R1150R Roadster handlebar? Have you ridden the Roadster and liked the ergos?
3. The R1150R Roadster handlebar was used for both heated- and non-heated-grip OE applications; there was not a 2nd handlebar.
4. Let's get this straight: "drilled for heated grips" has no meaning for F800ST application. The F800ST heated grips system uses wiring external to the handlebar tube, as mentioned above. The only fitment criteria that matter are:
handlebar OD at clamps
handlebar OD at controls & grips
straight length available to accomodate controls & grips
system/configuration used for attachment of bar-end weight
left grip mount screws hole(s)
overall handlebar geometry effect on fairing, windshield, airbox cover, and clamp-to-fork-tube clearance.
5. The F800ST handlebar is 22mm OD at the controls & grips. BMW has used 22mm bars forever (with exception of the R1200C, and newer bikes with "fatbar" type clamp sections, eg. R1200GS). And 22mm is NOT 7/8"... damn close, but employing 7/8 bars would require some material removal to fit. Any 22mm handlebar has potential for your application. Rizoma, LSL, Wunderlich, Flanders, WRP, Magura all make handlebars in 22mmOD section. You might need to drill and tap a small hole or two for attachment of the left grip, but otherwise these aftermarket bars could be used for F800ST, as long as you plan to get the correct bar-ends.
6. Pull the end weight off your F800ST and look at the attachment geometry. If you want to reuse the end weights, then your replacement handlebars will require whatever mount system you see on the OE piece. If you're willing to buy new bar-end weights (highly recommended for the buzzy F800 Rotax motor), then you can accomodate most any 22mm handlebar via aftermarket parts.
7. The R1150R Roadster handlebar can be used for F800ST application because it's 22mm OD and has sufficient straight length along the controls/grips segments, and the ST's fork tops don't interfere with the handlebar clamping section. The Rockster handlebar would work as well, as would R1150GS. If your ST's bar-end mounting system differs from the R1150** standard, then you'll need some R1150** bar-ends in addition to the handlebar. And remember that brake/clutch/throttle connections might also need to be changed to accomodate repositioning of the controls, which would add to the expense of the handlebar swap.

Re: Wanted R1150R handlebars
Sweatmark,
Thanks so much for taking the time out to write such a thorough reply. I REALLY appreciate that.
The goal is to provide a more rise and more pullback.
Yes, I could buy bar-backs for that but quiet frankly I HATE the look of that. It's a personal thing I guess.
I have found another F800ST rider that has done this conversion, so I know it works.
The cables have to be re-routed and a longer brake line is need. Pretty much what is required for bar-backs.
I have already purchased the longer brake line.
What I was wondering is if the bars for heated grips had visible holes. The heated grips on an F800ST are external so I don't really need the holes as you mentioned.
The reason I ask is that I have been offered a couple sets of R1150R bars that had heated grips. Ideally I need a set without heated grips.
I plan on purchasing aftermarket bar end weights including a cruise control option.
The Rockstar bar is not that different than current F800ST bars. Probably good to know for you guys looking for Rockstar bars.
