Has anyone put CRG bar end LS mirrors on there R1200R? Do the need the adapters? They said the need a diameter of 7/8. I'm not sure who the bar ends come off if I used an adapter. Thanks for any thoughts.

i tried both the Wunderlich mirrors and the Rizoma. The Rizoma are my favorite. They have an odd blue tint that you'll grow accustomed to in time. The best thing about them (besides how sexy they are) is the size and shape of the lens. Slightly convex, large mirrors give a good, vibration free view of what's happening behind you.
Mounting them is not exactly plug and play though. Originally I started with the Rizoma mirror mounts and the mirrors. Then I had to buy different bar ends - longer and heavier ones - to fit the Rizoma mirror mounts. Before I knew it, the mirrors were sticking way out away from the bike and the steering was affected by the bigger bar ends.
So then I bought the Wunderlich which mount very easily to the stock bar ends.
The Wunderlich are fine, but after seeing the great view afforded by the Rizoma I decided to figure out a way to mount the Rizoma and get rid of the Wunderlich.
The issue with the Rizoma is that they need a cylinder shape to mount to and our bar ends are conical. So my BMW dealer got a machinist to mill down the stock bar ends and below are the results.
I like the way it's all set up and I heartily recommend the Rizoma, but if you're interested in the Wunderlich I have a pair I can sell you.

it's actually the stock sport windscreen.
i painted the backside of it with Krylon Fusion paint - made for plastics with no prep.
on the front a shaky attempt at pinstriping, recently revised, and a BMW sticker thrown on....

it didn't take long and most days i like how it came out...

I know it's 2.5 years later but I wanted to say a big "thank you" for this thread (and Eric / vielzebub for the machining tip). Took my bar ends to Suwannee Machine Shop here in the ATL metro and absolutely friggin' love the look of these Rizoma mirrors. They really clear up that front end so much and they're plenty useful on the busy interstates as I slip in and out of lanes.

Thanks again, Eric / vielzebub (and the rest of the community and the thread and the search feature, etc etc)

My two cents: the F800GS mirrors will fit the R12R. Before I found that out....and they cost 153 dollars and change for the pair; I bought the Italian mirrors what are the same, I think Aprilla; search that thread.

Of course they don't screw in without an adapter, search that thread, McMasters or someone has the adapter; then the mirrors sit a little higher and work pretty well.

Then I bought mirror wideners; I think twisted throttle, then had to use a deal they came with so that the widener cleared the on off switch etc. So now the mirrors are F800 shaped, wider and taller. Tall enough that I look left or right and there are the mirrors, no looking down...perfect!

I can see a car on either side at any distance to the point where if they were to pass on either side, I see the front of the car about the time it hits my peripheral vision. No gaps. No blind spot. No looking down.

How's it look, not bad.

You could get 90% of this by simply buying the mirror wideners and paying the 153 plus bucks for the F800 mirrors, no adapters.

I actually did just that a couple of weeks ago and returned the F800 mirrors bc with the adapters on top of the wideners the mirrors are at exactly the right place.

Honestly it does not look bad. Honestly I don't care. I can see the world around me in context and that is priceless. YMMV

By the way I bought the same wideners and Aprilla mirrors and put them on my 2009 696 Ducati Monster. Same result. But did not need the McMaster or whoever adapter. I can see everything. Bar end mirrors are nice for cafe racer look. I'm just a geezer and I don't care. I have an awful looking Givi top case on the ass of both the Duc and the R12. I can't see them when I ride. I don't care. I am old. I love to ride; I need a place for my crap.

As they say: YMMV

You'll need to have some kind of adapter. On my R1200GS I turned down a section of the bar ends to take CRG mirrors (A GS Cafe racer?). For the R1200R, I made a set of small aluminum spools to mount the CRGs and later the Rizoma Class Retros that replaced them. Basically I turned some aluminum stock to roughly the 7/8" / 22mm diameter of the handlebars, then machined one end of the spool to fit in the end of the stock bar weights. Then I drilled a 8MM hole through the spools for a longer than stock bar end retaining bolt. I also recessed the outside end of 8MM hole with a larger drill so that the head of the retaining bolt is flush with the end of the spool.

Rizoma appears to make either modified bar end weights or an adapter to accomplish the same thing.

The CRG mirrors are nice, but they are rather small and a bit hard to see things in. Also, they mount somewhat low and I found that it took longer than I liked to scan the traffic behind me. The Rizoma's are larger and are mounted closer to my normal line of sight.
