Six of us converged in Meadows of Dan, Virginia at the Willville Motorcycle Campground this weekend. After working part of the day Friday and trying to wait out the rain I left Bluefield about 3pm. By the time I got to Wytheville I had to get off the Interstate because I was tired of the rain. So, I took 52 South to Hillsville then 58 to Willville. Is that too many ville's?
I was last to arrive and set up camp near the others. Slowly the group formed and we were greeting each other, smiling, and shaking hands. The Hobbits have to eat so we headed to Tuggles Gap for dinner and lies.
Saturday saw an early start and great roads, many of which I'd never been on despite the fact they're in my backyard. We hit rain a couple of times but only briefly. The day was damp with sprinkles but we also had sun. It certainly could have been worse weatherwise. We actually had lunch at an Italian place that listed "Sloppy Cucci" on the menu. No takers there, but a couple of us did try the "Turnover". It's called a turnover because that's what your stomach does about two hours after you eat it.
Mike, Michael, Vann, and I ended up at Tuggles Gap again for dinner and Rocky Knob (Blueberry) pie. It turned out we were just in time for an evening Ranger program at Rocky Knob Campground. Back to Willville for cold beer, a campfire, and conversation. A great wind down to a great weekend.
Sunday morning all were up early packing and getting ready to leave. I think everyone except me was gone by 8 am. I slowly packed up (still perfecting my system) and zipped home on 52 North instead of I77 arriving there about 10:15am to my wife's surprise.
I sincerely enjoyed this meet and am looking forward to the next one. Wherever you are, if you haven't yet and you get the chance, go meet up with some fellow board members. You will not regret it!!

Wow - great photos, wish I could've been there (minus the rain)! I just got back earlier today from two weeks without touching the bike! 
I'll be back on it first thing tomorrow morning and I can't wait. It's good to see Mike hasn't traded the R in on the K1200R yet!
Brian, I'm seeing a pattern of you/motorcycle camping/rain. You better not be the one that keeps brining it on us!

John, welcome back to two wheels. I know what you mean about the rain. Wet is the one word description of my complete motorcycle camping experience. I'm checking out tents and bags and packing systems, wet or not it's something I like.
Yeah, about Hungry Mother. You pick the weekend and come on down. I'll do what I can about the rain. Actually I'll take suggestions. My wife (a teacher) does this snow dance in the winter, but that's to MAKE it snow. Maybe if I do it backwards it will STOP the rain.
Vann, great photos. I always regret not taking more shots, especially pictures of the gang. You (and Mike) got some good ones. Those beaks lined up perfectly on the parkway are cool, cool, cool!

I still want more action shots on rides but it requires some stopping and setting up and with a large group it would be difficult and/or dangerous. (Yes, Mike, you are right!) Someday soon, I will rig a camera mount on the handlebars and sneak a click in now and then for some shots of bikes in motions instead of us shooting the bull or stopping to eat!
