2010 1200 known isues

Post by garr2 »

I have had a 2004 1150 for 3 years now and in that time have experienced 4 (stick coils, QDs, oiled clutch plate, final drive) of the 6 known issues (+ clutch splines, servo/ABS failure) with this particular model.
It's time to move on - to a 2010 1200.
What are the known issues with this newer model?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

The number one known issue to which most members will attest: is that if you take a test ride you will eventually buy one. A secondary issue it trying to wipe the smile off your face. :D

I had a R1150R for 6 wonderful years and 36,0000 miles. All I can tell you is that in 2007 I could see some of the issues that you mention surfacing on my bike. When I took the test ride on the 1200 I was hooked right off the bat. Not only was the weight loss, power gain and sharper handling clearly evident, but other things that bothered me with the 1150 were fixed on the 1200. The engine is smoother(balance shaft added),injector noise reduced(covers on top of them now),battery is far easier tho access(now under the seat and not under the tank witch was a major pita to get at),no more fast Idle lever to mess with. After 5 years on the 1200 and 37,000 miles I have had no real major issues other than rear brakes wearing quickly(resolved) and a premature death of a oem batteryresolved. It's a great bike for sure.

The R1200R is the R1150R with all the problems solved, and very few new ones added. It's a MUCH better bike..
