Sub-frame failure

Post by AmosHarrison »

On the way to Sedalia last month I had trouble mounting the right side case. After some disassembly I found the two nuts at the rear of the sub-frame loose with quite a hole remaining where the rear of the case mounting bracket should attach. A tie down strap over the pillion seat got me through the ride all right, but tonight I got the bad call from my dealer. His normal welder doesn't think he can effect a repair. A new sub-frame is $1,000. Beemerboneyard has a R1100R sub-frame that looks the same. Is it, or is it close enough to cut off what I need to make the repair? Help!!! :( :(

Look up R1150r subframe on eBay. I bought one from Pinwheel (I think) for $200

I thought it paid to have a spare as I was was taking an angle grinder to the original.
