Irregular Idling
Ok, so I've had my awesome rockster for 3 years now, did the usual services, TB balance etc. December I went on a long trip and when I came back, I stored the bike and disconnected the battery terminal as I would not ride for a month or so.. Got back, connected the battery and decided to do a TB balance just to check it again. Noticed when warming up the bike around the block that when I get to a stop street, the idle rpm would be below 1000rpm and then after a few seconds, it would go to normal. Did the TB balance, but it still does that every time i get to a robot or stop sign.
What am I missing here?
Bike BIO: 75 000km
Serviced recently
Spark Plugs done at 65 000km
Sticks done at 58 000km

Are the robots hostile?
Could be in need of something as simple as an Italian tuneup.

Robots are what we South Africans call traffic lights.
Bike has been run at all rpm ranges at all kinds of loads through it's whole life with me, so no chance of real carbon buildup.

I think the main problem is the water turns the wrong way down the drain!D
But seriously mine does the same when its cold and I think it is an induction leak. Maybe on the throttle shaft or the intake TB junction. Let us know.

No induction leak. Going to try reset the Motronic this afternoon as described by http://r1150r.net/board/viewtopic.php?f ... e9#p188057.
Also.... the water down the drain thing is a myth... ------> http://www.scientificamerican.com/artic ... nally-sett -------> sort of...

Re: Irregular Idling
Reset did zero. Problem still persists. Also no induction leak.
What effect could the air-temperature sensor and lambda probe have on the idling? Also, I have noticed a rather rich exhaust smell when idling.
Could it be dirty injectors?
More bio:
Catalytic converter is replaced by a y-pipe.
Standard canister is replaced by two-brothers canister.
K&N airfilter

Re: Irregular Idling
INDUCTION LEAK!!
The 2 rubber caps where you plug in the pipes for TB balance was worn (didn't realise it leaked air) which meant the lambda probe adjusted the motronic at idle because it thought the motor was running lean, creating the rich idling.
Cheapest fix ever on the bike!

I had the same problem though not after storage. After replaceing the fuel filter, doing a full tuneup and replacing the O2 sensor it turned out to be the right (or maybe left) coil.
