Mondo Bullet Lights

Post by rvb1019 »

Ordered my set in November and finally got around to installing them on my 2002 R1150R today. In a word- AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried posting my pics of the install here but the site doesn't like my photos for some reason.

Here is a link to my install on the Advrider site: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showpost ... tcount=491

Thinking about ordering set for the LT where the Piaas normally go in under the front cowling. At $136 for the lights and harness, it's a steal when compared to Motolights. I don't have an interest in this company other than I think their product is a great alternative to Motolights.

Looks good! That's right where I mounted my Hella FF50's to present a good light-triangle to enhance conspicuity to oncoming (esp. left-turning) traffic. I'm sure in NYC you appreciate how valuable that is!

I crimped and soldered the leads (16ga wire) to four Posi-lock fuse holders (http://www.posi-lock.com/shoponline.cfm#3) into a large (yellow) ring terminal connector attached directly to the positive battery post to power:
1. auxilliary driving lights,
2. a small air compressor,
3. two cigar lighter receptacles, and
4. a really loud horn (Stebel Nautilus).
They are accessible under the back edge of the tank after removing the seats.

Hey RVB1019, I like what you've done with those lights....I think I'm going to do the same. I've got some questions for you, please:

1. Can you provide more details on how you mounted them in the oil cooler bolt holes (any up close pics)?
2. Any challenges or things to be careful of in order to mount them properly?

Thanks for any more details and help you can provide. I gotta get some more light down the road!!

It was supper easy. I replaced the screws that hold the oil cooler covers with a slightlt long screw- nothing fancy. The mounts from Mondo work great!

Aiming them was very easy. For the money, much better than moto lights. I'm actually thinking about getting another set to instor on my LT where people usually install Piaas.

Thanks for this tip!

I got mine in the mail a few days ago and mounted them low on the forks, there's unused threaded tabs that worked fine, after a bit of filing down the corners of the mounting plate. I've only temporarily wired them in and rode around tonight to see how they work. They are very bright, but not at all shaped for roadway use. Probably not DOT certifiable, but I'm no expert, I didn't even sleep in a hotel last night!

I do like how they light up all the overhead signs, but they border on being TOO bright now. I didn't get any highbeam flashing like I was annoyingly bright to anyone, so that is a good sign. I'll have to put a set on the DL650 too. Conspicuity can never be too high when it comes to traffic safety!

Thanks again!
