battery dead on 2004 r1150r. Can I jump?

Post by yao »

I have a 2004 R1150R and my battery has died. My understanding is that partway through 2004, an external lead to the positive battery terminal was added.

How do I know if I have the correct model, and if so, where is the lead?

Otherwise... any tips on bump starting?

If you have one, there will be a round, black rubber cap over a stub post on the outside of the plastic starter motor cover just forward of the accessory plug (next to where your left boot rests when riding).

If you don't have one, you can, as rvb1019 said, remove that plastic cover and put the positive jumper cable directly on the (always hot) starter terminal and then the negative cable on a good (unpainted) ground.
