Line-X city lids... whaaaaa???

Post by RedRyder »

Thought this post would help put a smile on or be one of those "things that make you go hmmm.." I had these city lids left over from my '02 bumblebee and they were painted yellow with the gray tank graphics running along the bottom. I worked like a dog to prep and sand them for a repaint to match the piedmont red. Stupid paint kept bleeding/bubbling through the primer even after a soda blast, paint remover and sanding. I was ready to give up on them, but dang, I sure hated to throw them away because I paid $170 ten years ago. :) So I had them Line-X'ed for $30 each. My wife says it makes the bike look "tough". It is a stretch to think of a BMW R as tough. I run city lids some, touring lids some, simple tank bag or naked.

I like it, it does look tough, but still, its a good look for the bike. Mine is silver, and I might do the same thing.

another positive note: when you swing your leg over and accidentally toe kick the lid it doesn't leave a scuff mark. good for us old guys or the lazy ones.

That looks top-drawer.

Airbox would look good like that to match.
