Fuel Leak - Are these the right parts?

Post by tekxtc »

I have an 04 R1150R with 10000 miles. I was away for last 5 weeks, came back and about 2 miles from home saw fuel on the right hand side. Fuel was leaking on the exhaust pipe. Lots of smoke - no fire. Immediately parked and let the fuel dry. I should have taken a pic, but too late for that now.

After that I was able to ride the bike for another 10 miles w/o any problem. The fuel no longer leaks when I ride it.

A quick search here tells me that I should replace the quick disconnects, fuel lines and clamps.

I just wanted to know if these are the right parts? I will buy when (say) 3 people say "yay" on these items.

Is this something easy to do or should I just pay the guy who performs larger services for me. I do not go to a dealer - it is very far away for my preference.

Looks like you have everything you need to do the job !!!!

Don't know if instructions come with the kit or not, just remember when putting the quick disconnects on the fuel line on the 2 fuel lines from the tank, one will have the male end of the disconnect and the other will have the female end .

So you can't screw up and get the lines connected incorrectly .

Not that I've ever done that !!!!! 8-[

Mine started to leak as yours did. It was my first "repair" on an 1150 but plugged on through and had it done in an afternoon. If you like tinkering, this is a good DIY project.
