Flashing LED brake tail lights, gizmo???

Post by macx »

Hi, been a long time. I'm dusting off my 1150R and have forgotten a few things.

I have one of those LED flashing brake tail lights, but it won't work now.
Fuse is OK, there's power to the disconnected stock harness in the light housing,
but the lights don't come on. There's no power to the spade lugs on the back
of the board that's in the stock socket location.

There's something real tiny on the conversion "socket" that says something
like "gizmoi11.com" but that doesn't bring anything up.

The part # imprinted on it is PCB-BK-R1150r-PWR

I've of course lost the wiring diagram for the kit.

Can anyone point me to the manufacturer, or give me some tips?
It all worked fine when I last rode it several years ago.
Battery is charged, etc etc.

Thanks much!

Unfortunately they do not make them anymore. It was a great product.

I have the BRAKE! taillight on my R. Best $80 I ever spent. And yes they went out of business.

Macx....I'll make a suggestion/offer. I know a bit about electronics, and I have a friend who is darn near a wizard on the same. If you would want to send it to me I'll see if we can have some luck with it.

The fact that it worked before you laid up your bike but doesn't now suggests oxidized connections, or could something have chewed the brake wiring? Rubbing metal contacts with a pencil eraser and then cleaning with isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip usually makes them work again.

Agreed, a great product that I've had on my bike for years. It's great beauty was that it was true plug n play, installed directly into the the tail/brake light socket. It makes you wonder: why hasn't anybody else copied this design? Hyperlites and others make brake light modulators or add-ons, but require significant splicing of wires and other nuisances. Kisan's Tailblazer is plug n play, but is just a slow flashing incandescent bulb, nowhere near as attention getting as the Brake! unit. Too bad.
