Well Damm
Darth, great news to hear that Randy is on the road to recovery. Do not believe I have ever met him. Judging by his Air Force career, he is no doubt a highly skilled pilot and cyclist. But when it happens on the road, it happens fast. Hope to meet him one day in the future when his life is once again somewhat normal. It may be time to initiate the "Safety Standdown" effort we've discussed. Also noticed there are no post on the Safety board. Perhaps there is something I can contribute to that board that will be of interest. Believe Randy would approve of open discussions of cycling mishaps and lessons learned. Moose
You can drink 'em pretty, but you can't drink 'em skinny.
That sounds guardedly optimistic and I'm happy that he's on the mend.
When I worked in A&E as a junior doctor (In the US, that would be as an intern in the ER), I saw some horrific bike accidents, one in particular that is scorched into my memory.
But it hasn't stopped me biking.
I hope he continues to recover and is well enough to ride again before long. Please pass onto him my best wishes from across the Pond.

Here is the latest update (2-3 days old) on "Rider Down" Randy who crashed hard in N. Mexico:
"Randy is out of ICU as of sometime last week. He's pretty beat up as I related earlier and still has a trach tube inserted so he's talking some but not much. The version I heard this morning was details are sketchy about accident cause, unlike what I had heard earlier. He still has some fluid on the brain and they're debating on whether to do a procedure to remove/relieve that. Cognitive affects- it's too early to tell. That's all I heard this morning from Mike who is getting his info from Carl.
I have no idea about visitors and what's appropriate on that."
More as we get it.
Keep the good vibes flowing...

Dave,
Thats great news - godspeed to the fallen rider for a speedy recovery. I had my own lowside on a graded road just north of Las Vegas (NM) on my recent road trip. Luckily for me not too bad - and a few 4WD drivers kindly offerred assistance.

Hi Toner,
I had to can Mehico due to work $hite, but recently got back from a 5,600 mile ride to AR and back. Did the CO Rockies, Monument Valley and Grand Canyon 'en route'.
Did I say I LOVE beemer twins? (I rode with some Jap bikes - believe me they dont come close).
I hope all is well with you Cliff.
