I was lookin for opinions. Looking at the signalminder and thought it was a good idea for the cost, mainly for the signal conversion to driving lights as opposed to the signal cancelling abilities. Has anyone used it and how difficult is it to install. Its says its plug and play, a 5 min job??

It is a five minute plug'n'play job, EXCEPT for fishing out the brake signal wire to hook up the suspend-timer-while-the-brakes-are-on feature... Though you don't have to do it. (I'll get around to finishing that little chore one of these days.)

And getting the fixture out that the old signal relay clips into can be a bit of a PITA. I ended up just breaking the clip. If you can visualize the way the clip works, it's just a question of which way to push, and where. Five minutes with a good flashlight and a magnifying glass should do it.

But even so, it's worth it. I don't even use the 'running lights' feature, but I no longer leave the turn signals on for a hundred miles any more, either.

- I use the running lights constantly. High intensity in the day, low in the night. Easy to switch it... hold cancel, tap 4 way flash.

- Brake light connection is nice. Allows me to use a shorter time out.

First mod I made to my bike, other than painting the oil coolers to get rid of some of the ugly black paint.

Absolutely for the running lights. I have an older model so when I want to remind the car behind me that I am stopped I can hit the cancel switch and flash the turn signals as often as I want. So far so good...

I even connected the brake delay. I use the running lights and an 8 second brake input delay. One of the best mods on my bike.

It is terrific. Works great. But beware of the installation instructions if it is going into a late model 1150R. The illustration is not accurate.

If you just want to use the running light feature, the Kisan SignalMinder is a MAXIMUM 5 minute install - it's like changing a fuse. Great product - and I do reccomend using the self-cancelling feature wired to the brake light. That makes it a 20-30 minute install.

One of the best mod's I have made on my RR. Also have it on my RT and my previous R1200C.

You might also check out the vectra signal's. Makes you more visable from the side when cars are passing.

Not at all. There are low and high intensity running light settings, and some people recommend the low setting for daylight use to prevent heat buildup, regardless of the color bulb you use.

I keep mine on high and have not had a problem - makes you much more conspicuous, IMO.

I"ve been running the same (clear lenses, amber bulbs) with running lights set to high all the time...no problems with heat build-up.

I also REALLY REALLY like the cancel with the same button feature. I use and enjoy that much more then the timer.

Ditto, ditto, ditto on all the positive comments on the Kisan Signalminder...

One of the best accessories I hung on my Beemer. I, too, like the "cancel with the same button" feature the most, and behind that the auto-cancel feature. I don't even use the "running light" feature.

Best gizmo I've bought for my 04 r1150r..love the same switch cancellation feature, occaisonally use the running lights when visibility is less than great (night, rain) didn't know about a brake delay feature so didn't mess with the connection. Thing installed in seconds replacing the gizmo that comes with the bike. Highly recommend this item.

Just curios, why do some not use the running lights..its seems like mo lights is good lights? I will run them constantly I suspect!

Has anyone else lost the emergency flasher function since adding the Signal Minder? I think mine worked at first, but quit some months ago.

I run the less intense running lights and a longer signal.

I had a problem where I hit the flashers and they worked, but I could not shut them off. I eventually had to pull the relay to reset the whole system. I never use the flashers because of this and I keep forgetting to call Kissan to find out what's up.

Queen P - Kisan's customer service is excellent over the phone. I called and spoke to Andy, who is an electrical engineer, and he diagnosed a blown diode in one channel due to a ground fault on my bike - even though it wasn't covered under warranty I sent it to him and he fixed it for about 20.00.
