WOW, what a DAY!
Mine started by driving to breakfast in the Toyota, in the fog....WHERE'ED THAT FROM COME??? All was well when I set out on the bike though, a little cold, seriously overcast, and WHAT'S THAT??? wet roads and rain on the horizon west of Fairfield??? Not to worry, it turned out to be a FINE DAY!
Rio Vista in the morning:

Ten motobiker riders showed up invading the peace at Hobo park. There were day old muffins and Mad Dog 20/20 to be shared if you simply introduced yourself to the local color as I did. (I passed on the crumbling muffins....):

This was our first stop, where I snuck a shot of JD in the bar while the rest of the guys were talking bikes:

John wanted badly for us to visit this intersection before carrying on with the ride. A quick U-turn and we back-tracked to where we were SUPPOSED TO HAVE originally turned. Beautiful intersection though, wouldn't you say?

Welcome respite from the backroad bumpity-bump twisties and water crossings:

John served up a GREAT day of riding! Thanks again John, I had one heck of a day!!!

Ted has yet to miss a single NewBonnie NorCal ride:

Pizza PIZZA, Smile! The ten year olds and their mountain folk parents eventually kicked us outa their birthday party. Shoulda seen this group get moved to one of four different places before a final shot was taken:

Then there was a little bit of a communication problem between Rick and Ted.... Though knowing better, I followed Rick away from the group for our ride home. About 20 miles later, Rick and I figured out that we were well on our way to Oregon.... North just didn't feel right. We turned around and eventually got a chance to boot scoot boogie down a cork screw of 25 mph switchbacks (at 45 mph) with nary a car to impede our progress nor dampen our fun! We was schMOk'n!
A great day, loads of fun, fantastic people!

Hi ya Dave! How far from getting that LT are ya???
We initially met at a a park in Napa. From there we rode to and around Lake Baryesa. After getting off track, we turned around and made our way back onto a road that would have eventually taken us to Cache Creek Casino. We never made the Casino for the buffet, but the pizza was a MOST welcome part of the day!
It's interesting, I've ridden with hard core wannabe outlaw bikers, DIB's & LIL'rs (dentists in black & lawyers in leather), RT elitists, frugal Roadster riders, and crotch rocker Ricky Road Racers....... they are each a breed unto themselves, as are Bonneville riders. Bonnie' enthusiasts seem to know how to kick it down a gear, and not particularly be in a hurry for ANYTHING?!?!?! There truly is some kind of 'calm' about them that contradicts their propensity to like LOUD pipes. Fascinating.

OH MY GOD, the sound.....!!!!
I joined a group of guys with "NorCal Bonneville Riders" for a day that put an additional 300 miles on my clock. Among the ten bikes in attendance, there were D&D pipes, some "TOR's" (Triumph off roads), and a set of Predators.
First off, the Predators had a low and guttural tone to them.... kinda sexy. But I'm not here to write about the Predators nor the TOR's, I gotta tell ya what a pair of bikes with D&D's sound like going down the road together!!!!!!!
My BonnieBlack has a set of D&D's with 130 mains & two shims; runs a little rich at 2500 & 5500 rpm...... i.e., they *POP*.
Rick had some D&D's on his Thruxton with factory 110's, no popping.
It took us half a day to confide to one another how COOL the resulting sound(s) is. We took turns wanting to ride behind the other guy, each listening to the resulting sweet music two sets of D&D's make in concert (together).
If the guy in front is far enough ahead..... his pipes remind you of a P-51 in an air race, especially when he's winding it out. If the wind noise in yer helmet doesn't interfere, then you're treated to the P-51 sounds from your own bike in unison with the noise from the plane he's piloting. WOW!
- BUT -
If the two of you are within short range of one another.......
OHMYGOD, just think B-17 Stratofortress!!!! Four cans are putting out this awesome sound that resonate and reverberate in a fashion that makes you wanna add some nose art to yer Stratofortress Trumpet....... And if THAT wasn't enough, get two guys starting off from an intersection, each winding out their D&D's AND shifting into the next gear at exactly the same moment!!!!! Two minds, two sets of pipes, and two clutch levers being operated at exactly the same moment in time....... WOW, what can I say..... simply orgasmic!
